IE was a good browser.  There are still things I miss about it when compared to other browsers.  But Edge has also become a good browser.  I prefer it over Chrome on my Windows computers.

Chrome isn't terrible, but if I could have Edge instead of Chrome on my Chromebook, I'd like it better.

I got a Chromebook when the plastic on my old Dell Windows laptop literally started falling apart, and after the plastic on the lid broke all the way through, causing the LCD to flex terribly when opening/closing.

The reason I ended up with a Chromebook was because of the currently ridiculously high prices for Windows laptops.  To get a  Windows laptop similar to what I got my wife for $420 in 2019 would cost around $650 +/- today.

I installed FreeOffice and did some preliminary testing.  I think it's going to do everything I'll need it to do.  Thanks, again!

Thanks for the input on FreeOffice.  I think I'll give it a try on my laptop, which seems to have lost the student registration for MS Office my son put on it when he was a student.

Oh, well.  I thought maybe I was missing something.  At least I was able to export Favorites and Passwords.

I still find a lot of things better about IE, at least for how I use my browser.

Unrelated to this particular issue, but printing selected text and adjusting headers and footers is still many times better (for me) in IE vs Edge.  As long as a webpage that I want to print can render properly in IE, I always use IE to print, either to an actual printer, or to PDF.

Internet / How To Export All Edge Settings When Sync Not Possible

Version 84.0.522.59 (Official build) (64-bit)

I'll be switching computers at work, and sync in Edge is disabled by the admin.

I've found how to export Edge favorites and passwords.

I haven't been able to figure out how to export cookies and other browser settings.  How can this be done?

Thanks!

Computer Problems, Questions and Solutions! / Edge Printing Problem
« on: June 28, 2020, 01:48:48 PM »
When printing from Edge, the printed text is very light / faint.

When printing from Internet Explorer, Pale Moon, Word, Excel, or Notepad, printed text is correctly black.

Does anybody know what might be causing this very light / faint printed text when printing from Edge?

xrobwx71, what problems are you having logging into Gmail using Edge?

Multiple Gmail accounts are working fine on the newest version of Edge for me.

You're welcome.  Weawow is a relatively new app, but it has been much better than any other weather app I've ever used before.

I've found that Weather & Widget - Weawow is the best on my phones.  It has a selection of weather info providers and has very customizable widgets.  You could check to see how it works on your tablet.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weawow&hl=en_US

Dr. M I done that and the people was off so I rebooted and went to gmail.com on line
and sent an email from there to yahoo and it will not send'
On the desktop nothing after 4-28-20
How did you fix the "went to gmail.com on line
and sent an email from there to yahoo and it will not send" problem?  What did you do to be able to send from www.gmail.com again?

johnson55, your description is a little confusing.  As already mentioned by plodr, you'll need to clarify what you're talking about.

But regarding Gmail specifically, if you can't sign in to your Gmail account at gmail.com, you're using the wrong credentials for Google, and that has nothing to do with Microsoft.
