Jokes / The Guy Fairy Tale
« on: March 26, 2011, 02:04:48 PM »
Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess "Will you marry me?"
The Princess said "NO!"

And the Prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf and dated women half his age and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up .

The End.

Did you have a chance to also run random's system information tool as also instructed?  If so, please post the logs it produces.

Please do the following on your computer

Click Start > right click on My Computer > choose manage

On the left side of the Computer Management window that appears please click on Device Manager

On the left side please look for and exclamation marks or any other symbols next to the + or - signs.  If you see one next to the + sign, click on the + to expand it out.  Let us know if any of these items have this exclamation sign next to it and what exactly it is.

Sorry, there is one other thing I would like for you to do.

We need to check out your devices. Please download DevDiag, and save it to your Desktop:
WTT Download Page (recommended)
Direct Download
 • If you are using Vista or Windows 7, please right-click DevDiag.exe and select Run As Administrator. Otherwise, simply double-click the program to run it.
 • At the options screen, please type 2 and hit Enter.
 • The tool will take a few moments to scan. When finished, a report should pop-up, also available on your Desktop (DevDiag.txt).
 • Please do not copy/paste the report into your next reply. Instead, Attach it by clicking Add Reply, and scrolling down to the Attachments section.

norgechica,

When did you loose the ablility to boot into normal mode.  Was it during the course of this thread or was was it when you were following the directions of the other thread?  If it was when you were following the directions for the other thread, could you provide the link to that thread please?

Are you still unable to run IE in normal mode?  What about Firefox?  Have you been able to uninstall Uniblue or deal with Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader?
Please do not forget about Corrine's other questions.

If the Kaspersky scan has not finished by now please try the following scan instead:

Go here to run an online scannner from ESET.
 • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
 • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
 • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
 • Click Start
 • When asked, allow the activex control to install
 • Click Start
 • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
 • Click Scan
 • Wait for the scan to finish
 • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
 • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic and also let me know how things are now.
