Meet & Greet! / Re: Happy Birthday, winchester73!

Happy Birthday, Sir!

Wishing you all the best!

Problem is resolved.

Trying to figured out what is going on, I exported an error log from the application.

These lines made me think of languages encoding:

Code: [Select]
Culture ID 8192 (0x2000) is not a supported culture.
at System.Globalization.CultureTableRecord.GetCultureTableRecord(Int32 cultureId, Boolean useUserOverride)

So, what I did:

I went to the Registry and made some changes.

Specifically, I followed the path:
ΗΚΕΥ_LOCAL_MACHINE  >  SYSTEM  >  CurrentControlSet  >  Control  >  Nls  >  CodePage

And then changed the value data for 1252 and 1254 (Western European) to 1253 (Greek).

After this, no error anymore.

I have a problem with my work's computer.

I'm trying to run a work application which it crashes with the following error when trying to do some specific actions:

microsoft.practices.unity.resolutionfailedexception occurred

I don't have the same problem with my home computer.

The IT person thinks that it is a region issue, but I have the same settings on both the computers so I don't think so.

Is it something anyone can help?

I have more. And they are ... real!!!

Thanks, Corrine, for the clarification.

What do you mean about OneDrive application?

The one we got from Microsoft Store?

There is also the OneDrive Personal, visible in the menu of File Explorer. Will this also stop sync with the cloud?

Winter Time from today in Europe.

It's good for the morning wake up (not completely in the dark, at least for a few weeks). For those they are moving outside in the afternoon, it is a problem with the early darkness.

In any case, covid got all the attention the last 2 years and the discussions about not changing the time stopped.

That you were inspired to do this from your experience here at LzD is very special.

It is special indeed. During all these years many things happened that changed my life, but LzD is always the constant, my root, my Home.

Thanks again!

I wanted to post at the right date, but I missed it!

10 Years, Ladies and Gentlemen!

I feel so grateful about this Forum and the persons who helped me all these years!

+1000 actually, as always.  :)

I passed your advice along and, as a result, the lady is leaving the user folder name as it is. Although she doesn't like that.  :D

Time for a new topic. :)

I am helping a lady who recently bought a new computer. She signed in for a first time with a Microsoft account, and we all know that by default Windows takes the first 5 characters of the email used to name the User folder in C.

If she was signed in with a local account, she could put any name she wanted and then move to a Microsoft account with that name.

But what is happening now?

I had that problem of renaming my User folder some years ago and it was a pain.

Now, from what I read, I see that this could help, but I am not sure, and if you have any advice I would appreciate.

1. Create a new local account with admin privileges and the name she wants.
2. Sign in with that account.
3. Go to the Microsoft account and copy Documents, Pictures, Videos and AppData.
4. Paste the above to the new account.
5. Delete the Microsoft account.
6. Sign in with a Microsoft account, keeping the name she already has for the new account.

It is risky and I am not sure if it works.

What do you say?

My Principal used to say that they first remembered the animals (October 4th is Animals' Day) and then Teachers.  ;D

Οι Χαρταετοί & Ο Χασαποσέρβικος  The Charterhouse and the Butcher

I enjoyed this the best. Thank you for all the links. I listened to all 3.

Plodr, that's an instrumental I arranged for my orchestra some years ago. Carl Orf orchestra and ukuleles. It was a really very very challenging project and I recall with nostalgia those days.

Actually the piece is devided into 2 parts: Οι χαρταετοί (the kites) and Χασαποσέρβικο (Hasaposerviko) it is the name of a Greek dance written with the specific time signature).

Here is another link with instrumentals (most of them have lyrics but here it's the music only). The first instrumental is Zorbas (Have you seen the movie with Anthony Quinn? ), the famous Greek Sirtaki.

Here, Andre Rieu (the Dutch violinist and maestro) with his orchestra play Zorbas.

Mikis Theodorakis, the biggest Greek composer ever, died today, at the age of 96.

As a Music teacher, I arranged many of his songs/instrumentals for children's chorus and orchestra.

From his work: (instrumental ) (this is from a concert just after the fall of dictatorship and restoration of democracy in Greece, 1974. The song is a prayer for justice) (with Anthony Quinn - Zorbas)

And many many other...
