LandzDown Lounge / Re: Freedomlist - So long and thanks for all the fish!

Yeah, good ol' Freedomlist. I missed those sometimes spirited posts I had back and forth which, fortunately, didn't go too far. All in all, for its time, it was a rather enlightening experience being at FL. RIP Freedomlist. ;D :)

The new version of Malwarebytes free doesn't give as many options for scanning as the previous 3.8.3 version. There used to be three choices, now there is just this one and it tales much longer for it to scan my computer. ::) They really changed their look with the version 4.

Like Windows 7,  I think I will stick with the version 3--as long as I keep getting updates.  Windows 10 may be good in the long term but Micros$ft removed a lot of features that I like in Windows 7--like their media player. I'll just get more security  for more possible security vulnerabilities. Besides, I understand that there are still Windows XP users out there. :o I wonder how they're able to keep using software updates, etc. with that operating system. ::) ???

Well, Pale Moon is pretty secure anyway, so no need for Malwarebytes extension. ;)

I know that. I just think that with so many folk, including here using Pale Moon, it would be nice if this extension was available to us, too. ::)

I love it.  8)

A writer of Toni's stature--worldwide, by the way--this is the least that can and should be done in her honor and memory.

Toni Morrison, Nobel Prize laureate, and winner of other literature awards, writer of masterpieces such as "Beloved," "Song of Solomon," "Jazz" and "Sula," died yesterday at age 88.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/06/books/toni-morrison-dead.html

Her work predominately went into the African American experience, in particular the women with her poetic yet piercing interpretations and style.

I love her work. What a loss. :'(

Freedomlist--such sweet memories.  ;D

I certainly made my voice heard on this site, The early 2000s the possibilities were ther. But here I am at Landzdown. I've been much more mellow, if you will, since coming here.

Freedomlist RIP ;D

LandzDown Lounge / Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, Dies at age 65

I am really surprised at the relative scant coverage of one of the most important business, technology partnerships in U.S. history. This person was Paul Allen, co-partner and founder along with Bill Gates, of Microsoft, who died of cancer yesterday at 65.

Internet / Re: Internet Privacy: Facebook, Google, Windows 10, Bing
« on: April 10, 2018, 08:00:37 PM »
Fortunately, I don't use Facebook. I tried MySpace ( remember them?) I use only one social media site and use that one very carefully (privacy settings, etc.) No problem, hopefully, I will have any. ;)

When you use sites like Facebook, you take your  chances, especially when one thrusts their private info. out there--pictures, videos, sounds, music, etc.

As I said so may times, although we are "one under the Internet Sun," it is a jungle out there.

Take care. 8)

General Software News, Updates & Discussions / Re: Another cleaner
« on: February 22, 2018, 12:40:30 PM »
I just read about PrivaZer today.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/privazer.html

Has anyone tried this? If so, I'm curious about feedback.

I have used Privazer for years and had  no real problem with it, along with Ccleaner. But i use Privazer once a month or so. I use Ccleaner every time I use my computer. Another good cleaner that is relatively safe is ATF cleaner version 3.0.0.1.

3.0.0.2 might work for you, if you use Windows 7 like I do.

Web News / Re: Net neutrality is dead
« on: December 15, 2017, 01:32:39 PM »
Yesterday was a sad day indeed for a truly free open internet. I have been banging away for at least 16 years for Net Neutrality, the importance of it, etc. , as Corrine and others from the old Freedomlist forum know, and saying that toll roads and tiers is not the way to go. But now or soon, it will be, with higher prices and less service, etc.  >:( :o ::) :-[ :'(

Now, alas, the chickens have come home to roost--and not in favor of internet consumers, small businesses, etc. Hopefully, next November, there will be a new Congress and eventually a new US president, who will have the FCC board overhauled and reinstate the all important Net Neutrality

We will fight against the obscene FCC decision yesterday, through the courts and elsewhere to turn around their horrible decision to help out the Telecommunication companies capitalistic greed. >:(
