Yes! That's it.

Since you have no issues, and everything is checked, rename FRST64.exe to uninstall.exe. Double click on the renamed file, so the tool and its logs delete themselves.

Ron,

System32 is a system's folder. It contains important operating system files that Windows needs in order to function properly. Nothing to do with 32 or 64 bit. When you run something as administrator, it runs via system32.

The result is good.

Let's now change a Malwarebytes setting, so Windows Defender will take action as the primary antivirus, with Malwarebytes as the antimalware.

  • Open Malwarebytes.
  • Click the little gear on the top right (Settings) and when it opens, click the Security tab and make sure about the following:
    Code (auto:0) Select
Under the title Scan Options, all the options are checked.
Under the title Windows Security Center (Premium only) the option is unchecked.
Under the title Potentially unwanted items all options are set to Always.

  • Click on the little gear to return to the main menu and close the program.

How is the computer running now? Any remaining issue/question/concern?

Thanks!   After turning on the Nexus 7 tablet, I connected to my PC.  Windows music happened like it was recognizing a device, but when I went to file explorer nothing is showing up.

As I worked the side buttons that let you get into recovery mode to power down,  each action produced a 3-tone sound from Windows, but the device does not show on File Explorer.

First if the tablet never boots to the desktop, when you connect it to the PC it will not recognize the device. Try it and see if the PC recognizes your device. If not, you can't go further. That was my experience.

Hi, Ron.

There are two ways to enable the Administrator account in Windows 10.  Fortunately, I can point you to illustrated instructions by someone I've known online and as a fellow former MVP.  See the two methods at Enable or Disable the Built-in Administrator Account in Windows 10 by Andre Da Costa.

No trouble at all, and you are very welcome.

SFC didn't run via FRST. Let's do it using another way.

  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter
Code (auto:0) Select
sfc /scannow
  • Let the scan finish.
  • You will normally get one of the following results:
Code (auto:0) Select
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them
Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation
  • Please post the result you got (a screenshot).
