d-link dss-8+ router 10/100m fast ethernet switch. switch2

hi all;-),
i have the above router given to me. i need to change the password but i dont know how to do that. also being a newbie with routers i need advice as to how to hook it up. the 'uplink' plugin for cat5 seems to me would hook into the modem but i have no idea. if someone has a link for what i need that would be fine;-).
this router seems to be a good one but again im new to routers so any advice would be appreciated;-)
