A friend wants my help ( :shock: ) to make his computer save.

He's got xp. He hasn't had ANY protection what so ever and used the internet for about a year. Where to begin?

Not knowing what your friend has on his computer, I suggest having him start with the instructions at Trojan Horse Agent 4.E Instructions and post the requested log as a new topic in the HijackThis forum.
