There are a number of critical patches issued this month that require immediate attention. For an assessment please see this ISC page.

Have a very strange thing happening to one of the people at GW after install of these updates here is the link to his thread
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/comphelp/msg0415340326610.html?7950

It is popping up a windows 98 screen and his pc has never had 98 on it  (came with xp) and he is unable to boot the pc.  Anyone have any ideas or seen similar?  I have looked at some of the other forums and not seen a similar problem mentioned.

I cannot see any reason why that should happen. I'll do some digging and if I get anything I'll post back. Perhaps you would let me know if the Gardenweb thread is resolved?

well not real good news for poor arkie this is his reply over on GW as to what has happened

"Thank you all for your help. I have no idea what happened or how it happened, but after about the 8th time I re-installed XP it started working again. Of course by that time I had completely wiped the hard drive, so now I'm in the process of re-installing all my programs. This has been a real lesson in the importance of backup. Thanks again."
