Greetings,

For years I have been a licensed user through a number of versions and very well satisfied overall.

However, I recently became aware that v6 had been released by visiting the new support website.  The website had updated software and was streamlined to the point that you see only a bare-bones snapshot view of current posts.  I found the download url and installed v6.

My current license activated the full program, described as a simplified interface.  Gone were almost all options to customize scans using selected features.  To me, it was a bare-bones interface.

I then visited the new Trojan Hunter product website.  My impression was of a work in progress, with a graphic of the v5 interface and two different prices for a lifetime license.

Asked a question about the large (20meg+) daily ruleset updates, response was normal size.

I accessed the "about" feature in TH and found copyright Bytelayer AB.

Has Mischel sold TH?  Perhaps just a name change, or a spinoff?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Hi, Mike.

I hadn't visited the forums for Trojan Hunter in a long time.  You're right -- most definitely streamlined.  The "About Us" page hasn't been updated in some time, still showing "The latest update was released 2014â€'07â€'28".  It has reference to Magnus as founder but otherwise bare bones.  Looking at WhoIs information at http://whois.domaintools.com/trojanhunter.co, it certainly appears to be owned by the Swedish company Bytelayer AB and no longer listed as Mischel Internet Security.  Perhaps Magnus has retired.

Yeah, but if you click on the View Details button, it shows today's date and (as of this minute) 7969 Trojans added today (that's gone up 15 Trojans since I started typing this response).

So it seems the company and product is still in production but I doubt nearly 8000 Trojans just today were added manually. It would seem to be an automated process so who knows if any "warm body"  is really behind the wheel!
