Hi, Nick.  Thanks for responding to my email "on site".  Its much more efficient that way.  :)

I have to watch it for a while as it appears on this system that hang (is?)/was correlated to the length of time between logins and time on standby...

Which I understand appears to be the svchost issue as it is searching for updates during logon or return from standby or sleep mode.

If you need any info or need someone to check something on Pro or Home let me know and I will get it to you. I did notice the following when I updated the two computers:

1) Windows update took about 30 minutes on each machine before the scanning was completed and the updates presented for review
2) Installation took about as long or longer to install and seemed about equally laborious regardless of the available CPU/MEM between the two
3) Reboot was "rough" taking two reboots before the systems seemed to stabalize

Immediately following this, the rest of the issues appeared. I am following the latest tests for OP 4 RC3.1 released today and it seems to have resolved the "login after standby" issue but I have to watch it for a while as it appears on this system that hang (is?)/was correlated to the length of time between logins and time on standby...

My own review of the patch that i have been testing so far is that the scanning for updates takes 5 minutes so progress has been made there. As for the svchost pegs at 98% of the CPU cycles. It goes away when it's done searching for updates. That fix is still is on going as we need to establish a pattern and track down the exact process responsible
