disconnect from net and pc reboots automatically

hi again,
i manually setup my connection on this emachine but when i right click and select disconnect either from the descktop icon or the icon in the taskbar the screen goes black and the puter reboots.
ive setup my connection many times on other machines and no problem. i checked and its the latest driver for this modem. its a Sterling modem, installed yesterday. no other problems with my connection.
this emachine is driving me nuts :lol: any suggestions, ill try em!

yes, its what i would have liked and threatened to do to that emachine i worked on :)
but thanks to "mitch" the phantom phixer the emachine survived and all is well. if i would have listened to him the very first sign of trouble i would have saved myself a lot of grief. lesson learned!
that emachine was about 1-2 yrs old and was bought at a police auction by a friend. 2.5 gig processor and 1gig memory so it now runs FAST but it had ALOT of junk and porn and all the nasties that come with an unprotected box visiting porn sites and just being on the net hooked up to broadband using no router or fw, except windoz firewall. a real mess!
