You have the 'WareOut' infection.

Please download FixWareout from this site:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch if not launch it. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

Click Fix Checked. Once it has 'fixed' the entries, restart the computer once more.

Note:

If you have problems with your internet connection after this fix, try this.
Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Post a fresh logfile from HijackThis after all of the above, and let me know how things are going.

It isn't classed as a virus, just general "adware" or "spyware". There are several classes, but it is just easiest if you think of it was "adware" or "spyware". AntiViruses are detecting spyware now, but not very well - since it is not what they were generally designed to do. AV's do their best at detecting and removing spyware but it is not always good enough.

Will it happen again? Hard to say. With the right protection, as explained in the topic I have linked to, the chances of it happening are reduced significantly.
