New virusscan program

My Norton 2007 expires soon, and however this program is very recommended, I don't like it very much... Is there someone who can recommend me a good verusscan program or uses a good one?

Hi, Karel.  Although I have never used Norton, I have known people who really liked it, while many others had a rather dim view of the software.

For a subscription anti-virus software, I think ESET NOD32 is at the top of the list.  This is what I am using on my Windows Vista Ultimate machine.  There are other good A/V software programs.  This list has links to free A/V software:

From AV-Comparatives, you can find independent comparatives of Anti-Virus software.  It is against the AV-Comparatives site to reproduce the tables or results so you will need to go directly to their home page at http://www.av-comparatives.org/ .  From there, click on the Comparatives tab on the left and view the results for the two types of tests (Retrospective/ProActive and On-demand comparative).

I agree with Corrine as I have ESET NOD32 and have come to love it.
but you did not say wheather you were looking for the suite as in Anti-virus /Firewall and so on  like Norton 360 if this is the case you may be delited to learn that ESET is due to release

Thanks Corrine and thanks Graph. I will check when the new NOD32 v3.0 is available in my country (I live in Belgium, Europe, and it could take a long time before something can be purchased here when it already is released and old-fashioned in USA or Canada...  :))
Otherwise I will check the other software you mentioned. And what do you mean with suite? Is it a maybe program that cooperates with other programs?

A "suite" includes multiple products in one; i.e., anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-malware, firewall, instead of different software vendors for each.  Personally, I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket.  However, that isn't to say that a product such as Eset Smart Security isn't an excellent product.

As pointed out by GR@PH;<'S, you will need a firewall to replace the one in Norton 360.  Free firewall software:

Um, the Kerio Personal Firewall is now the Sunbelt Personal Firewall.  I know this because I use the product.  I don't know exactly when Sunbelt acquired it, maybe a couple years ago or so.  And they've gradually transitioned the name from Kerio PF to Kerio Sunbelt PF to finally and currently Sunbelt Personal Firewall.  There's a free version and a paid version, and FYI, the website is offering a great deal on the paid version right now ($9.95)
