What's your take on MS Silverlight?

Microsoft has been pushing Siverlight on Vista as a optional download, and a expected popup if you visit a MS support site. What's your take on  this software. I can see some good development from it, but I can also see the bad side of the advertisement pushes.

Been holding off on this for as long as I can, don't really see the need for it right now.
Haven't tried it though so I can't say very much.

I did get pretty mad though when I went to a site to view some episodes of old sitcoms and comedy shows and I was faced with either installing Silverlight or not watching anything there!
The site has since changed that though (I believe).
