is netscape a safe browser

internet explorer is a virus magnet
firefox & opera are pretty good
-- where does NETSCAPE fall, in terms of SECURITY, as a browser?

i'd assume it's pretty safe, because i don't think it's very popular.
still, if anyone has advice...

No browser is "safe" unless the computer is properly updated and the person in front of the keyboard follows safe surfing practices, reading the EULA and scanning downloads, not opening attachments, etc.

As browsers go, I found that Netscape was pretty bloated and have not used it in years.

As I recall, Netscape 8 is based on Mozilla's Firefox code base ... any security bugs in Firefox are likely to affect Netscape users as well.
