Hello!

I have an email yahoo account that I used few years ago. I forgot my password, and then create another one that I use now. But what if I want to have access to my old account for some specific emails? Unfortunately, when I enter an answer to the security question area, I get the message that it is not the right answer... But I am almost sure that it is. Is there any way to restore my old password? Or is there a way to delete permanately this account?

I found these two documents that may be helpful:

How do i retrievemy old password I can't remember without resetting it? - Yahoo! Answers
Yahoo! Account Help | - SLN2081 - Finding your Yahoo! ID, which links to several other help documents.

Note, however, if the account has not been accessed in over a year, it was likely deactivated on or about July 15, 2013.  See Yahoo's going to boot us off our deadbeat accounts, but who is going to grab them? | Naked Security

I think that the account has not been accessed in for at least a year. This means that I have lost access to it?

Now I can' t try anything else, for 12 hours, because I have tried many times to answer the security question.

i would be surprised if any ~free~ email provider kept an un-accessed account up for over a year.

I started receiving sponsored emails in my yahoo email. I cannot delete them and if I click on them, I get into another website. When I come back to my email, the email says something else. How can I take control on these unwanted emails?

From what I've heard from people who are using Yahoo mail, it is quite a mess since the last update.

Are you sure they're emails? They may be advertisements / sponsored links that show up in your inbox view. This seems likely given they change when you go back to your inbox view after clicking them - if it was an email, the content would be static and not change.

One potential option to is to pay Yahoo! but not sure this would clear up what you're seeing: http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/enhancements/mailplus

Hi, Aaaron.

Yes, you have right. They are advertisments and they don't exist today.

But there is another problem: When trying to delete some emails, nothing happens.

Is there a safe way to completely remove this account, without any remainders anywhere? And what e-mail provider is the best to choose from now on? On my computer there is windows live email that my sister uses for her emails (local provider). Personally I don't want to use something similar, because emails are exposed to everyone.
