I was using Firefox but every time I upgraded to a new version it would mess up.

I don't need any thing fancy just something with a decent favorites section.

Hi, Ron.  Welcome to another FL friend to LzD!

I forgot that, for whatever reason, posts about Pale Moon are not welcome at FL so he deleted my reply.  Although others have replied in your FL thread with suggestions you may want to try, there is Pale Moon version for XP, created & maintained by Matt Tobin, who has also been working on Pale Moon add-ons.

@Lost:  There is a Linux version too.

Thank you Corrine.

I don't think i had problems with Firefox before 2013.

Palemoon will import your FF bookmarks so don't get rid of FF just yet.

Plodr I had to delete all the Firefox files before Pale Moon would download a few days ago.
Firefox attempted to do an auto update and I thought it pooched the tower. I thought I had update set to notify-only my fault?
I now back up my Favorites to disk every week and don't trust any browser.

It took 6 hours to down load Pale Moon the other night and then I found out I downloaded the wrong version.
I sure hope Pale Moon for XP  is a smaller download.

Checking Pale Moon for XP, it is 20.1 MB.

PL4XP downloaded in one hour but would not work.

When I click on the PM icon I get this pop up box.
"Palemoon has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I will try again tonight.

You must be on dialup.

Let me check if I have an old version of Firefox.
I still have FF 28 on my XP partition. Since I don't go on the internet with that, it doesn't matter that I'm running an old version.
I always set up FF not to update. I'd rather update myself.

I found it archived on one of my USB sticks.
I uploaded it to googledrive.
Paste this into your browser

and you will get a button to download Firefox 28.
It is 24 MB.

Thanks PLODR I was able to download that today. I hope that was not too much trouble to set up.

I think that FF28 was the last one that worked well on this computer.

Is there any way I can save that to CD-R so I can have a copy?

plodr

Take the exe file that you downloaded, right click it and zip it up.
Then make a data CD and put the zipped file on it with the other data items you have.

I actually had it archived on a USB stick.
You can also put it into a folder and save the folder to a USB stick.
I have a folder on one of my sticks called "other versions of Firefox" and I have several versions in there.

Thanks I will try that.

ron350

Thanks again now I have a copy Firefox 28 on CD.

plodr

Glad you have it archived.
Ordinarily I would not suggest running an old version of FF but you are on dialup so probably don't do more than check email and a forum or two because browsing is so slow.

I had to use dialup in 2011 when we were without power for 8 1/2 days. It was so painful that I gave up. Every night we drove to McDonald's to warm up. My husband watched the news on the tv and I surfed on one of my two netbooks while we drank coffee or hot chocolate.
