The reason the display name can only be changed upon request here is because we ran into a situation some years ago that caused some issues when it was allowed.

Please note: by changing the displayed name that people will see, you will still need to log on with your registered username. I'll wait until you re-confirm that this is acceptable and then will make the change.

I sent him a PM but will wait until tomorrow to change his display name. The next time you log in, you'll still use Lost for your username but Forlorn will be displayed on your posts.

Lost is now Forlorn but lostness isn't quite Lost. Rather, because Forlorn was Lost here first and that is officially his username so couldn't be used by lostness, the result was changing lostness to Lost. with a period at the end.

At least those of us who know Lost. from another place won't be lost any more and we won't accuse Forlorn of being Lost. :o
