Hi Corrine,  thank you!  Yes, I remember reading about Sumatra but I also remember the bright yellow color issue and I further remember reading through the steps to change it, so I think for me that turned me off.  Obviously, I am nowhere near advanced in my software/hardware, etc. skills as most people here who have helped me. Just getting used to Windows 7 has been enough!  I know that sounds antiquated to most everyone here, but I'll move along with my progress and try not to pester you all so much!

Corrine

It is no longer necessary to change the bright yellow since the background was changed to gray in 2014.  From http://blog.kowalczyk.info/article/b/SumatraPDF-30-released.html

QuoteFinally, some of you really didn’t like the yellow background color. You’ve won: it’s now gray.

Thank you for the update of the switch over of the yellow color to gray for the Sumatra.  If you install Sumatra, do you then go over and remove the Adobe Reader?  Do all of your existing PDF files open up okay in Sumatra?  Thank you.

Pete!

I can't say anything bad about Sumatra, I use it's Firefox plug-in for viewing online PDF documents.

However, for some purposes, I prefer PDF Exchange viewer.

Unlike Sumatra, it's compatible with "fill-in" PDF documents, (like tax forms from the IRS). It also has a "typewriter tool" that can complete forms that weren't prepared with the "fill-in" function (like my municipality's dog license application).
I've had some problems with it's Firefox plug-in, so I use Sumatra for that.

Even with both, I use fewer computer resources than I did when I had Adobe Reader, and don't have anywhere near the security concerns.

Hi Pete,

Thank you greatly.  I've been using Chrome now more and more, because of Firefox's crashes, etc.  Pale Moon I am using some too.  I'll have to test some of these other ones out!!!  Learning more and more!  Thank you.

Thanks for the advice on Sumatra.  Can you still keep Adobe on your computer too?
