Despite its popularity, the possibility is there that it could go the way of the dinosaurs in a matter of months. This is not because of money, but due to the community no longer supporting it on a large scale. Many could have seen this day coming from a mile away ever since Libre Office came on the scene... The issue, from what we have come to understand, most developers have chosen to support Libre Office instead. Without these talented developers, the OpenOffice team is finding it difficult to fix bugs and release new features.
