The price for LCD monitors has certainly come down.  $239 for a 22"!  It wasn't long ago it was $400+ for a 19".

nice.  it takes years, but fortunately prices come down so ~i~ can afford new technology...

corrine,

i was shocked too- i hadn't priced them in a while.

i just got a 19-inch viewsonic - gorgeous.

now i use two screens, in extended desktop mode. -- i'm able to work much quicker (although the set-up does take a little while getting used to).

:boat3:

I keep looking and keep getting tempted, but can't convince myself to take the plunge.  I have a 19" CRT that admittedly takes up a lot of space on the desk, but I really don't need the space behind the screen for something else.  The display is fine; are the LCD displays any better?  My CRT doesn't have any dead pixels.  I think it uses 90 watts, but it gets turned off every time I leave the computer.  Probably takes a few seconds longer to fire up the screen than an LCD, but I can wait.  If I replaced the CRT, where would I put it?  In the landfill?  It has no value.  Surely, if the CRT croaked, I'd replace it in a heartbeat with an LCD.  Am I getting radiated by sitting in front of a CRT?  Too late in my lifetime to worry about that.

Convince me to get an LCD.  I really want one.  But I can't justify it.   :D

@ babyoh - me too! it's the coolest thing!  multi-monitor setup has been available since win98... i'm just now getting it... o, well... :)
@ lena - you'd like it... the heat output of an lcd has to be 1/2 or less, and you'd reclaim an unimaginable amount of desk space...  :)
