Hallo LandzDown Forum

I do not have a problem, but a quistion: Is it wise to change anything in the security settings on Internet Explorer 7?
It is on Standard, as recommanded right now.
Can User-costomize make it more secure, but still make it work on harmless, normal sites?
Do you have a good Tip?

And Green "Trusted Sites" in Internet Explorer - I did make some of those, but a friend said: "You can´t trust any sites these days, do not use that"
... Well is that so?

Rudi,
Quote"You can´t trust any sites these days

unfortunately we live in a world where someone bring us the nice things in life only for others to try and take it from us, and so in part your Friend is right for you not to trust every one.
You can adjust the settings in IE7 to allow those that you trust but I recommend you try IE-SPYAD
Quoteadds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once you merge this list of sites and domains into the Registry, the web sites for these companies will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on your PC.
Also here are a few other programs that I recommend,
Trust Setter
QuoteAllows you to quickly and easily move sites from IE's Trusted and Restricted Zones. You can use this to stop all sites (except the ones you want to allow) from displaying pop-up ads or writing cookies to your computer.
POW
QuoteA simple utility, just run POW! while browsing on the net, and when one of those nasty popups appears, POW! will automatically close it for you... It's that easy!
SpyBlaster
QuoteThe most important step you can take is to secure your system. And SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

SpywareBlaster can help keep your system spyware-free and secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web.
SpywareGuard
QuoteA real-time protection solution against spyware and other potentially unwanted software.
Detect browser hijacking attempts and more as they are happening.
CookieWall
Quoteallows you to quickly and easily decide which cookies can stay on your system, and which cookies should go - once you let CookieWall know which ones are unwelcome, it does the rest. CookieWall can be configured to delete cookies as soon as they arrive
and
CCleaner
Quotesystem optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run)

press Enter then have a Brandy then if the problem is still there have another Brandy
Q: does it work
A: It does seem to for a few hours at least.

Temmu

i would not adjust ie7 security settings.

trusted sites?  be very careful adding sites to that one!  it means that you trust the people operating the site to be so in tune with security that their servers are sanitary.  you trust those people to run any code they please against your pc.  know of a site where that's the case?  i don't.

Corrine

I tend to agree with Temmu on the issue of trusted sites.  Even a "trusted site" can become infected.
