Ripley:

I had already cleared the street in front of my drive, so I was OK.

I can't believe the number of people that clear their driveways and side walks and throw the snow into the street

Quote@Corrine, you had 18in of the winter VIBE come your way, eh?  I too hope this is the worst & last of it.
Thank goodness I finally have the VIBE, heat and a defroster (not to mention all the other problems)!  I'd still be chipping ice off the old Escort.  (We've had to scrape and/or shovel six of the last seven Wednesdays.)

On the other hand, with the bright sun today, there were robins flying around.  So let's hope spring really is around the corner.

May the wind sing to you and the sun rise in your heart.

Bless your heart, yes!

I drove a vehicle with no heat/defrost for the first 2 yrs I lived here...and that is just plain wrong!

Scraping the windshield from ice on the inside, and pulling over each 20 minutes to run around the car because I couldn't feel my feet touching the pedals during the subzero days.
Horray for that shiney new VIBE in the driveway!

Robins?  :lol:  If so, then that is a good sign.  Haven't seen any my way.  I don't think they want to land their little tootsies on the continued snowcover up here just yet.

Temmu

it was bitter cold with a raging wind last night, around 55 deg f, and 5 mph winds...  oooo i can't wait for spring!!

Basementgeek

Well, officially the storm was not a "Blizzard".  The news reported that you must have winds over 35MPH for 3 hours, to be considered a Blizzard.  I did not spend 3 hours, at one time, so I can't prove them wrong.

Only thing I will say it was nasty out there Saturday.

Twas an early model used VW bug 64? 66?, that either had *some* form of heat that was under powered for MN winters, or broke? or both?  My mechanic skillz to this day are still nill.  It also had a place in the floorboard where a glint of light peeked through.  At 16 & on my own, it was the best I could do (and a long time ago).
But it is still wrong!   :lol:

Well BG, whether it was officially called a "blizzard" by the record books, I have found that some weather events always seem to stick in people's memories for whatever short term inconvenience/adventure or long term change it brings to their lives.  March of 08 is a record snow fall for your area for sure!
Any flooding going on?

@Clark76, you still got heat?

@Temmu, "bitter cold w/ raging winds" at 55F & 5 mph?
I could use some of that New Orleans weather about now!
In the meantime, I've got my eyes peeled looking for robins

Basementgeek

VW Bugs were well known for almost no heat, back in those "days"

One thing that just cracks me up..........

I live about 1 mile away from two City of Columbus operated/owned golf courses.  There are staffed 363 days a year, from sunrise to sunset.

Guess who always has their lot cleared of all snow, all the time..........right, the golf courses.  No body has played golf for several days.  There has only been 2-3 days in the last 30, that it was nice enough to play.

My tax dollars are hard at work.  :hysterical:
