Bear with me, I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment. I'll try and post a new location this evening.  :)

OK, where in the world is this and who built it?

Temmu

well, it appears to be the tree of life.  but, so far, my friend google has not revealed anything...

Eric the Red

Don't waste time going down that avenue, it is not a tree!

well.
it is a rather large art project, appearing to be 2 stories high.

is it a temple?
or
an homage to (the game of) chess?

Eric the Red

Personally I would class it as a Folly. It was built by one man over a period of 33 years. Here's another view

Eric the Red

Not in the United Kingdom (to save you asking about Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland).
