Does this date from the British Colonial period or US Civil war period? The layout is similar to that of one if my local Palmerston forts, Fort Gilkicker which, if contemporary, would place your site in the latter period.

pre dates the civil war.  completed in the 2nd decade of 1800's

it is named for the same man whose name also appears as one of the rocky mountains.

yes it is cgi (A drawing) of what it will be.
