These are Japanese acoustic locators from around the 1930's. These were used to detect aircraft and the photograph shows anti-aircraft guns to the right.

the tops appear to be the male end that screws into a "c" class light socket.
but not being a light...

does it play christmas music?

yes it does indeed screw into a standard light socket and does have a light at the end and yes it could play Christmas music, I have to give it to you, these are by Klipsch they are called light speakers you can screw them into any light socket like the can lights or ceiling lights and from the bottom it is a light and it is also a speaker which is wireless and the controls are for that aspect, this lets you put speakers pretty much anywhere in a house with out wiring.
