My computer was infected yesterday with a fake antivirus program that installs a "Security Tool". It attempts to run its own antivirus software on my computer and get me to purchase their software. Obviously its a virus. However, when I try to run MalwareBytes AntiMalware, or my Avast Antivirus I cannot. Additionally, I can't add/remove programs on my computer.  I attempted to run ERUNT and other online scans and they were again unsuccesful. The only program that I have been able to open to scan for viruses has been Avast Antivirus, but my computer keeps randomly shutting down before the scan is finished. What should I do now? What can I do?

Thanks

Corrine probably won't thank me for this but ....

Make sure that you have a blank CD-ROM to hand. Browse to the following link and download the package, save it to a memorable location on your computer:

http://dlpro.antivir.com/package/rescue_system/common/en/rescue_system-common-en.exe

Follow the instructions at this link (you have already completed step 1):

http://www.recipester.org/Recipe:Create_a_bootable_Avira_AntiVir_rescue_CD_27189122

You may need to change the boot sequence in the computers BIOS setup to boot from the CD

When you are all done restart your computer and post back here to let us know that you are ready to continue.
