I have always wanted a Kindle but just could not afford one so when I heard they were going to make Kindle for Pc and it would be free I was excited.  Well I got mine and I am very pleased with it so far. The download and install was super quick and easy, uses the same log in info for your Amazon account, if you don't have one you can create one.  Once you have the app you can click on the kindle store from there and look for books, the great part is that there are hundreds of free books available, I already have a nice library built up from the free books. They are virtually instantly sent to your pc as soon as you make your selection. If you have other computers with the app or a kindle or kindle iphone app you can sync your library between them all, just hit menu up in the top and select sync and look for new items.  Excellent for my little netbook. I can now use it to read in bed.

I did a search for kindle freebies and also free books to find lots of good free books,  I love FREE! :tease: :goodie:

Who else has tried it?

Not yet, but I was thinking about it.  However, since I spend enough (too much) time in front of a monitor, I'm not in a hurry to try it.  I expect that I will stick to paper for pleasure reading.  I am a regular visitor to the local public library.  (In fact, books are due tomorrow.)

Remember, the Kindle for PC is still Beta so deserves the customary warning about running beta software on a production machine.  :)

R-C,
It seems good, Never tried it has a segestion you can always run the EULA through EULAlyzer as it  analyzes the license agreements in seconds, and provide a detailed listing of potentially interesting words and phrases about the the software you're about to install, displays pop-up ads, transmits personally identifiable information, uses unique identifiers to track you, or much much more.

yes it is indeed still in Beta, I have been using it quite a bit and so far it has performed excellently. I was not sure if I would like having the netbook as a book but it is not that bad, I can see how the actual Kindle reader would be easier to handle of course but if I got a real Kindle I would want the larger one which is close to my netbook size.
Reading it in bed or in my recliner is comfortable, I set the font to a good size for my old eyes and it is not harsh.  Proof that it works as well as a book... I fell asleep reading it yesterday in my recliner LOL.
