LONDON (AP) - Two weeks after suicide attacks on subway stations and a bus, police said explosions occurred at three subway stations and on a double-decker bus Thursday.

Only one person was reported wounded, but the explosions during the lunch hour caused major disruption in the city and were hauntingly similar to the July 7 bombings in which 52 people and four suicide attackers were killed.

The London police commissioner confirmed Thursday that four explosions took place in what he described as "serious incidents."

"We've had four explosions- four attempts at explosions," Metropolitan Police Commissioner Ian Blair said outside police headquarters at Scotland Yard.

"At the moment the casualty numbers appear to be very low ... the bombs appear to be smaller" than the July 7 blasts.

Sky News TV reported that police said no chemical agents were involved in the explosions.

Police also said an armed police unit had entered University College hospital. Press Association, the British news agency, said they arrived shortly after an injured person was carried in.

Police in chemical protection suits were seen preparing to enter the Warren Street Underground station. Unspecified incidents also were reported at the Shepherds Bush and Oval stations.

Thanks Corrine,

Guy Fawkes, the Fenians, the Third Reich, the IRA and others have all had a go at London in the past. None have succeeded yet in breaking our spirit and I don't think that the latest bunch of terrorists will have any more success.

So, to them I say  :tease:

At 7 am this morning after those incidents had well past, on US TV anyway, i thought at first glance i was seeing some
replay or highlight of what happened last week. Boy, was i surprised to finally realize that it was another terror attempt.

London Police Kill Man at Subway Station

QuoteLONDON (AP) - Police shot to death a man wearing a thick coat at a subway station and cordoned off a mosque on Friday, a day after the city was hit by a second wave of terror attacks in two weeks.

Metropolitan Police said the man died after being shot by officers at the Stockwell subway station in south London.

Passengers said they saw police pursuing a man who appeared to be of Pakistani or Indian descent. Some said police pursued him into a subway car and shot him when he tripped.

But one witness said police "pushed him onto the floor and unloaded five shots into him."

"He looked like a cornered fox. He looked petrified," Mark Whitby told the British Broadcasting Corp.

Police had no immediate details on the situation at the mosque in east London. But a Muslim leader said it was evacuated following a bomb threat.

Mohammed Abdul Bari, chairman of the East London Mosque, said the threat came in a telephone call Friday morning. A bomb squad came was searching the premises.

More than 6,000 people were expected for Friday afternoon prayers but there were only about a dozen people inside at the time of the threat.
