I got really drunk again one night at my local pub.
The barman refused to serve me any more alcohol and told me that I should be heading home.
I thought this was a good idea so I stood up to leave but fell over straight away.
I tried to stand up again but only fell over again and again
I thought if only I could get outside and get some fresh air I'd be grand.
So I crawled outside then tried to stand up and fell over again.
In the end after falling over lots more I decided to crawl home.
When I got back home I pulled myself up using the door handle but as soon as I let go he fell over yet again.
I managed to crawl to my bed where I fell fast asleep.
Once I finally woke up sometime next morning Netty (my wife ) asked me what he was doing at the pub last night.
I denied it but she said,
"I know you were there..."
But after denying it for an hour or so
Netty turned and said

"the barman rang to say you forgot your wheelchair again...."

I would suspect that by "odd tipple", your Doctor means occasional rather than your translation of an odd number as in 3, 5, 7, 9...  :D
