I tested 3 computers (all running Windows 7). 32 bit Pro, I can delete from the console. 64 bit Home I can delete from the console. 32 bit Home, I'm not able to delete from the console.
It has nothing to do with the dates of the scans. On one computer, I was able to delete a scan from July. On the one with the problems, I was not able to delete a scan from August. Both had 2 scan reports showing. So it also is independent of how many reports are showing in the console. (I checked to be sure the reports showing matched the number of reports in the Program Data folder.)
The one giving me problems is my desktop computer that I have on for hours daily. It certainly is more up to date than the other two.

So it is as clear as mud. It works on some computers but doesn't on others.

I'm off to check the 4th computer.

4th computer, another 64 bit Home did not work. I then went into the Program Data and discovered there were results from the beginning of 2020 so I removed them. I restarted MBAM and now I can remove reports from the console.

Results: 3 computers work correctly through the console. 1 does not work. On that one, I have to remove the reports from the Program Data folder.

After a ridiculously time consuming update to Win 10 v 2004....
I can now delete MBAM scan reports from the console.

I figured I'd try today. I have 2 reports showing in the console of the "broken" computer. I went to delete the oldest and instead the newest one was removed.
At least something was removed through the console. That is progress.

Then I looked at the logs because I saw 1 site was blocked in the last 30 days. I have that report but also 10 reports marked bk1 through 10. I decided to remove some logs from May and June. I kept July and August.

I went back to the console and I was able to remove the only report left.

Tomorrow I have another scheduled scan. I'll wait until I have 3 reports then see if I can remove the oldest report through the console.

Note: I haven't made many changes just shut down MBAM and manually removed what I wanted (old reports and some backup logs from early 2020) so perhaps one of these started the thing working correctly. I might never know but just so it is working, I'm happy.

Pete!

By today, I had two more reports.
The "internal" dates now match the dates of the reports.
The references to things it stopped years ago are gone.
I was able to delete both from the console.

Malwarebytes for Windows 4.2.0, Component package version 1.0.1025 has been released.

LzD member will be happy to see the that with this update can now filter out Reports with no detections from the Reports list!  See Malwarebytes 4.2 for the other information about the update.

You can wait for the update or click "Check for updates" in Settings > General.

Weird behavior issue reportedly solved in the update to MBAM 4.2.

Thanks. I think I'll wait until it is offered to our computers.
So far, I seem to be able to remove reports.

I was surprised that it was offered today on my desktop computer. I usually have to wait a long time.
Yesterday I decided to update 2 computers. So far the 3 that are updated are fine.

Anyone have a clue as to how I go about finding the screen that offers a desktop icon? Only 1 computer shows this and I uncheck so I get no icon. The other three never ask and I have a desktop icon that I have to delete.

All that is is a shortcut. It is the installation routine offers to create a shortcut on the desktop. You would have to run the install again (perhaps uninstalling first) to get offered it again. That would be a PITA.

But a much easier way would simply be to find the executable (mbam.exe) in the Malwarebytes directory, then right click on it, select Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).

I don't want a shortcut on the desktop. I have to hold down shift and delete the shortcut.
I'm trying to find the screen that offers the shortcut so I can unselect it.

I get annoyed that so many programs plop a shortcut on the desktop. I try and keep as little as possible on the desktop.

You have to look for the "Custom" install option when you install the program. Sadly, they don't always say "Custom". You may have to click on "Back" or "More options" or something else. There is no standard for this. :(

I agree with you. I don't like a desktop cluttered with shortcuts. I get lost. And besides, too many shortcuts on your desktop can actually impact performance. For one, all those shortcuts have to load with Windows. And then they are actually taking up memory - a tiny bit, but still... .

Another reason to search for the Custom install option is if, like me, you like to install these programs somewhere other than under than under c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files (x86). And then some want to set folders and subfolders. For example, c:\mozilla\firefox. I don't need (or want) a mozilla folder.  :(

And then using the Custom option gives (or should give) us the option to opt out of added toolbars, changes to our home page, default search engines, and of course, adware or worse.

So I always, and I mean ALWAYS, seek out and use the custom install option - regardless the program. If one is not provided, I generally abort the install and look for an alternative solution.

Come to think of it, I think I saw the word advanced on one of the installs. I'll have to wait for the next version which probably means about 3 months and pay more attention to what I'm doing.

I too choose custom because I don't want any extras added to my system.

Yeah, I don't know the word or phrase but I do know there is the option there somewhere. I think it also lets you opt-out (or opt-in) pinning a shortcut to the task bar, and maybe start menu too.

plodr and Digerati,

I was offered the MBAM update 4.2.0.82 (I think that that was the number) on both my Windows 10 and Windows 7 machines.  During the installation process a choice appears for "Advanced Options".  Once you click on that the next page has a checkbox (that is already checked!) to place a shortcut on the desktop.  So unchecking that box during installation should address plodr's issue.  That checkbox option only appears once during the process, and even then only if you click "Advanced Options".  After that point there is no other place in Settings or anywhere else to change that option---although probably if one had the expertise one could explore the registry and probably find the appropriate place to make the change.  (Not recommended for mere mortals!  {Smile})
