Only delete the shortcuts, Diana, or you may end up with an expensive door stop.

As to the pictures that are in folders, there is a way to move the pictures in bulk.  When you are in a folder of pictures that you want to be in the Picture Library and not in a folder, select the first picture, scroll to the end and while holding the Shift key select the last picture in the folder.  Right-click on one of the selected pictures and select cut.  Then go to the Picture Library.  Right-click and select paste.

Note:  If there is a mixture of files in the folder; that is, they are not all pictures.  You can select just the pictures to be moved by holding the Ctrl key and clicking only the pictures.  Then do the same as before, right-click on one of the selected pictures and select cut.  Then go to the Picture Library.  Right-click and select paste.

As to the Bots, I was referring to the Google Search Engine bots that go the websites and pick out text for adding to search results.  The only thing left for you to do is to contact the Garden Web Administrator to have your email address removed from the old thread there.  You also need to understand that the only way anyone will see your email address in the search results is if they are specifically searching for your address like you did or if some term(s) they are searching for happens to be in the same search results that have your email address.  It is unlikely that will happen with such old posts.

Thank you C.. I have looked thru my libraries and have moved pictures and documents etc. to one place, I think.  Ha Ha.
It is never ending as there never is a main spot for each category. They will never serve me well or quickly. And backing up all of this is my next question.  What do you suggest as an external back up system? Is it actually possible to index this properly?

Thank you

Corrine

You have EaseUS backup installed.  What settings are you using for the backup -- incremental?  Where are you backing up the files to -- a separate partition, USB? (Link to EaseUS tutorials:  http://easeus-backup.com/tutorial/)

Personally, I would also back up documents and pictures that I wouldn't want to lose to some place like OneDrive (previously named SkyDrive).  Although this is an old post, it will give you a bit of an idea about setting up OneDrive on Windows 7:  Moving to SkyDrive.  More recent information is available in the documents linked below.  I suggest you read up about OneDrive and consider including it in your backup plan.

Since you have an iPad, there is also an app for that:  OneDrive for iOS on the App Store on iTunes

hi C, after all of this work I addressed my email problem and went to Comcast and finally made it up to the email specialists who changed my outlook settings around as well as my password twice. I knew their settings were not correct - not all of them because they were setting me up for Outlook express. So I put in their port number 993 and 465. I knew they were wrong. They are 995 and 465. They also changed the outlook address for incoming and outgoing. We fussed and they said this is Microsoft's problem.  I took back the addresses and used the port numbers I researched and everything was running perfectly for a day on PC and iPhone, iPad. Yesterday I received a message that my password was wrong.Holy Crud, now what.  In order to chage PW I need the original....which original?  Nothing works.

Yes, I went to the forum on Comcast and email has not been working for other people either who use Comcast for a week or so.Mine has been down since we started working on the virus. Now I have a variety of passwords and Comcast finally admitted last night to one who posted on the forum that they have a problem at Comcast Email Central.  People have been flopping around like a fish out of water and again I can't use my email.

I'm telling you this only if you have updated information. I know that Outlook and iPhone are not your first choices and I think you fixed it before but this is on their end.  Well it's always on their end.

They completely changed my address settings to something like pop3mail.comcast.com. Like I said I didn't believe these experts and didn't use the addresses.the forum didn't agree either. And my computer worked by not changing those addresses.

They have made no announcements to the forum group of what the new settings are. They thought they would have it fixed today December 5 but not so.  Very sad.

I called Microsoft to get the version of my outlook. There is no where on my Outlook program that shows it. I gave them my key card number and that wasn't it. I talked to a second person and gave him some other numbers and he said he thought it was version 10. I'm hoping he wasn't guessing. I have Windows 7 and I bought it with Microsoft on it..

It's a hard luck world out there.

Yes, you have Microsoft Office 2010 (released as version Office14).   According to Configure Outlook 2010 for Comcast Email, updated November 3, 2014, the settings are not what either you or the Comcast email specialists indicated.

Enter 993 in the Incoming server (IMAP) field. Select SSL from the drop-down box for Use the following type of encrypted connection.
Enter 587 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) field. Select TLS from the drop-down box for Use the following type of encrypted connection.

thanks Big C

What about the addresses Pop and Smpt.  They had me change them to something very different like I mentioned Pop3-mail might be what they they said.  Didn't work so they said call Microsoft. I changed those back and so on.....

I will change 465  to 587.  587 used to be a vulnerable number along with 110 and we were told not to use it and were given new numbers.  The funny thing is my Comcast server setting still defaults to 110 and 587.

At this moment I don't have an original password as they changed it twice.  This is the biggest problem.  I don't know if Comcast's problem is fixed and the forum comments were stopped on Comcast.

It is not just in my area either.

Thank you for a true verification of my Outlook version.  Comcast told me they could not help me without it. Hope this helps some other folks you work with too.

From the general instructions (not Outlook specific) at Using Email Client Programs with Comcast Email POP is not recommended:

QuotePOP Access

Using POP to retrieve e-mail will cause a less-than-optimal experience, especially when you use multiple devices to check your email. We strongly recommend IMAP over POP since this will keep your emails in sync across different devices.

How can Comcast change your email password and not give it to you?  That certainly isn't right.  You will need to contact Comcast again then so you can get the current password.  I don't see how the settings should be any different from what was updated three days ago at Configure Outlook 2010 for Comcast Email.

I typed and they dictated PWs.
I just looked at your settings. I have never used IMAP and these Email specialists did not use IMAP. If you remember I gave you an error number at the very beginning of my post. Sometimes I had 2 error #s  I tracked those  numbers down and it was from the same week and expected a fast fix when I got done with the virus you were helping me with.  Those error numbers ceased and I got a pop up message to reenter my user name and PW.

It is almost impossible to get an answer from Comcast..... the help desk support the other night could not answer server settings.  I asked for help on the call to the 2nd person and she sent me to these guys who said they do email support all day long and if I didn't use their settings then I would never get it.  Well, they were apparently saying this in the middle of a crisis at Comcast and would not tell the truth and stayed with me thru one trial run and left me in the middle of the next PW. Well, my PC  worked after using their PW and disregarding the server addresses I was beaming and then within a day or two it didn't work.  I had their phone number and I gave it out to people on the forum to see if they could have better results. Of course no one answered. It is common with Comcast to no longer leave an audio message when you call that sez the server is down in your area. Not fair. Without that info people will not ask for reduced charges for the month perhaps. bye

There was no resolution for the forum folks with email problems when I last looked. No one with my software was using 587 or IMAP.   I will try your fact sheets and if I score I will give you a thumbs up.

Corrine

Not my sheets, Diana.  That is what is provided by Comcast.

Since I have Time Warner, I just hope the Comcast/Timer Warner merger doesn't go through.  Coalition Opposes Comcast-Time Warner Cable Merger

I bet you do.  I once wrote an article and it was published in The New York Times concerning what I had gone thru with Comcast including no documentation in my chart.  Well, this caused a couple of days of rants on the paper.  I was thrilled and tried it with Best Buy but it didn't work. The New York Times I am sure had Best Buy as a client.

Meanwhile, a guy from Comcast management called me and said I had been abused and this would never happen again and I would never have to call Comcast.  He assigned the Regional Director of Comcast to me. A Supervisor came the same day at whatever time I asked.  He showed up on time and gave me a new DVR instead of day workers who swapped one of the back of their truck.  This lasted two or three years. If I needed port numbers or had restart my DVR I would call in late at night when the 3rd shift who were often laid of IT people and they would go the extra mile to assure Quality Assurance (I am a Deming) During the day the people who answered were scratching their butt and thinking about last night.  I would verify their settings with the regional manager and he went ballistic.  He couldn't believe..... He's gone. The new people saw nothing in my records. Now the help desk are untrained IT people who are taught to say no. just use Xfinity on the website it is all the same.  That's this week.

Your settings are for a new account.  Going with that was OK with me but it didn't work.  It added to my address a (1).  Also, on direction #19 in the test account settings they ask me to log onto incoming mail server (Pop3). So it is not well edited.  I used the PW they gave me last then I made up a new one and in essence I never got to the port numbers.  I was stopped at the server addresses I added.

Please feel free to make fliers out of my comments here to take to state your case concerning any sort of merger.  When I figure this out I will give you the answer. I don't dare call Comcast.  One guy tried their Chat line and there were 75 people ahead of him. Thanks for listening to a well worn story.
