Hi Corinne! (Sorry for the delay)

I did disable some things in Task Manager, but it was before your last reply.

Is there any program/s that I can try out instead of AVG. I know you all have different favorites in programs but I would really like some suggestions.
AVG free has protection for:Computer, Web, Identity and Email, but for me it's no trouble with more than one if there isn't any one with all of them.

I've got Windws firewall activated, is that a good one?




PC is still a bit slow. Calculator takes about 2-3 sec to open, Open Office 7-30 sec,  AVG 10-16 sec, google earth about 18 sec. Maybe this is normal and I'm just impatient??

But the net is the most slowly.
I use Netflix alot. When it starts up it takes about 6 sec the first time. If I close the window and reopen it, it only takes 3 sec to open it up again.
When it's opened I can't scroll until 8-15 sec the fist time. When I hold the mousepointer over the icon for the series, it takes more than 20 sec for it to come up so I can click on it.

I checked my internet speed and it's as it should be. I pay for 50/10 Mbit/s and measured 58/12 Mbit/s.

Maybe more info than you want, but I wanted to be thorough...

Personally, I use the included Windows Defender on Windows 10 for antivirus protection.  Other than ESET, I haven't used non-Microsoft antivirus products since MSE was released.  I know others use Avast and are happy with it.

Since your are getting much, much faster Internet speeds than I am and I don't have a Netflix subscription, I can't help you with there although when I use the "live TV" feature from my cable/Internet provider, I do have occasions where it is "buffering".  Calculator took abut 2 seconds for me
