I must have made an error typing in a website and got a pop up window "Windows detected suspicious activity on your computer."  I'm to contact them at a toll free 844 number. I tried to post a picture of the popup taken with iPhone but it must have been in an unacceptable format because I could not get it to post.

It's a scam, don't call anyone.

Do you have MalwareBytes AntiMalware installed on the computer?  If so run a scan, although it is unlikely anything was planted on your computer if you didn't click on anything within the popup.  If not, we'll get you instructions for MBAM.

I didn't click anything or call, of course, but I did restart the computer.

Ran Malwarebytes-free after it updated.

1. What browser are you using?
2. Are you using a popup blocker? If not, you should be. Even if you go to a website you did not intend to visit, you will not see a popup.

Internet explorer

Yes, I use a popup blocker and it is on

You may also want to use Adblock Plus if you aren't already.

Sure, I can get that, Adblock plus.

The ad just went away. I.E. Is working now.   Am I "good to go? ". Do these things just give up and go away??

Daisy

One other question. Does the current pop up blocker need to be turned off to use ad blocker plus? Or do they work together?

Thank you.

When I use the computer using I.E. To go to your website I get the following:

"403
Forbidden

Access to this resource on the server is denied! "

If I switch to yahoo or google I can get through.

Daisy,

I have experienced this "403 Forbidden" error recently too.  Apparently the web page that I was using in my bookmarks/favorites folder has changed its accessibility or status.  This just started happening about a month ago.  So I modified my bookmark/favorites link to the following:  " http://www.landzdown.com/ " and everything has gone back to normal.

Thank you, v_v.  That works.

Hi, Daisy.

With a fresh cup of coffee in hand, I'm more alert now.  What happened to you is called "typosquatting".  Here is a timely article about it:  Beware typosquatting â€" these are not the websites you’re looking for.
