WOW
Never expected this type of coverage of my issue.  Figured someone would have a quick and nasty fix and all would be forgotten.  Have had other issues of 'PUP/PUM' that no one had any ideas about, did my own research and reviews of what was being done, plus my suspicions as to the one placing that program on my system.  Found an entry in my Registry that did not make since, plus was set to run a 'binary' file.  To make a long message short, removed that entry and my problem was gone.

As for the time delay is not an issue, no problem, it gives me some time to do more research from my way of thinking.  Troubleshooter/analyst, Journeyman Electronics Techie with over 65 years experience along with electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics to round out my Computer works as well.  Started with Data General Main Frame 64bit rack mounts with TTY for input/output and 64 logic switches to use to teach what the BIOS does for DOS.  NOT a programmer.

I found another case with the same error code and "tampered" information that Noel provided a fix for I'm waiting to hear back from him on.  With Noel in the U.K. and me across the country from you, as well as the holiday, there may be a delay in getting a response.

That said, what happens when you click the link to "Resolve online now"?  Do you get to enter your product key?

Lastly, the link, NEVER HAPPEN as I do not use any of those "features" in a website or email, have my own links and do searches on the subject site for what I need.  Never know where those 'links' take you.  I can wait, time to me is less expensive than loosing everything to the 'bad guys.'  Looking for that will be my next route after doing some more of what you have provided.

Thanks Muchly

Have run the "SFC" several times as instructed without any change in results.  Always ending in, "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations."  Plus the "/list" is NOT recognized by my copy of 'sfc' or should it have been placed within the square-brackets ([])?  Still getting that window pop-up, wonder how much time I will have to attempt to find this issue?

The error 0x8004FE22 means that a problem was found and internal repairs failed.  I see an indication of what the problem may be and am hoping that I can get hold of Noel Patton.  He is a true expert at dealing with such issues.

In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to run a SFC (System File Checker) scan which will check and fix any corrupted files on your system.

  • Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  • Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then right-click Run as administrator.
  • If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
  • At the command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER:  sfc /scannow (note the space before the slash)
  • When the scan is complete, if no errors are found, restart your computer and post back
  • If the message does not say "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations", restart your computer and run System File Checker again.

Am a nervous WRECK at this time, did click on that "Resolve OnLine Now" and am presently attempting to do the download from Microsoft, (failed), attempting to get a repair kit from Wikifixes.com titled "0x80072EFE-RepairKit.exe" (by TweakBits) and having difficulty getting it downloaded and installed.

As it stands at this point and time, cannot get the program from  "WikiFixes" titled "0x80072EFE-RepairKit.exe" to install.  Have it 'White Listed' in WAR (WinAntiRansom) along with several other files that required download and nothing will go forward.  There is a mention of 'manually repairing registry files' but NOT what is needed to be installed there.  Any ideas would HELP?

The log isn't showing the errors that were there before.  No more warnings, right?

What are you doing on here at this time of day?  You should be with family enjoying Thanks Giving.  Thank you for reviewing my latest report.  Finally got the nerve to do what should have been done first.  My "Dual Knoids" (paranoia) kept me from doing what was right.  Was supposed to show every sixty (60) minutes and it has been over two (2) hours, warning FREE.

Did not expect to get any review until late this evening.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

This can be closed, SOLVED!

"Corrine,"

You have NO idea how relieved I am over this issue.  My last several days have been one (1) big PAIN with little sleep!  Only about a half hour to maybe Hour & Half at a time when possible.  When this finally came to this END....  Have been asleep most of the day, did not expect to hear anything from this forum until late late this evening.  When your message arrived just could not believe my eyes, thought it was a GOOD dream come true.  After shaking off the cob-webs and my companion bugging me to go outside (my best friend Farrah, Silky Yorkshire Terrier) and taking her out then coming back to the email.  What a relief

I like the dancing smillie face, even without music I could join and cannot dance, two (2) wrong feet, not even left footed

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for the guidance and being there, gave me some courage to think better about my issue

SOLVED ! ! ! May lock this if you wish.
