There you go. Thank you for the log.

Since it is getting late where Corrine is, I am not sure she will be back on tonight to look at your log. Try not to do anything more with the computer till she has a look. She will be back on tomorrow morning to continue with her next set of instructions.

Thank you very much, Donna.  I'm fading a little myself and will be happy to quit for the evening.  I appreciate your help and the time you gave me.  Nighty night!

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I've been out most of the day.  If you are still getting the notice from WinPatrol, launch it and look at the Recent tab.  See if the entry is listed there.  Otherwise, how is your computer?

No problem!

I haven't had a notice from WinPatrol in a week or so.  Computer seems to run fine.

Excellent!  Let's take care of removing the tools used:

Please download Delfix from here.

Ensure the following boxes are checked:
  • Remove disinfection tools
  • Create registry backup
  • Purge system restore

  • Click Run
The program will run for a few moments and then notepad will open with a log.   No need to provide the log.  :)

I spoke too soon.  Having trouble with email this morning. Apparently its a problem with EarthLink (I called). If ok with you I'll wait until it's working, but I can go ahead if you think I should.

Corrine

It is up to you.  The purpose of DelFix is merely to remove the tools/logs during the process.  It also creates a fresh backup of the registry, a new restore point and removes old restore points (eliminating the possibility of people restoring to an infected machine).

Hope EarthLink gets things squared away quickly.

Sorry for the delay.  I had to go to my volunteer job at the library!

I ran delfix, the icons are gone from the desktop.

Understanding you may be swamped with people needing your help, I would like to take the liberty of asking a couple of questions.

1.  If the request comes up again to have Command Processor as a start-up, do I need it?  I have no idea what it is, Microsoft made.

2.  Is my virus protection adequate?  It's Avast,  Windows Defender is off.

Corrine

It won't hurt to have cmd.exe as a startup but isn't necessary.  You can easily access it if needed by a right-click of the Windows icon in the task bar and select the Command Prompt from there.

As to A/V protection, I'm checking on whether a particular program that I'd like to recommend is remaining free and will let you know.
