New York’s official alert system hacked: sent fraudulent messages

Mobile Commons, a New York state-approved mass messaging service provider, experienced a security breach on November 10th, 2025.  Nearly 200,000 New Yorkers received a malicious text message from the hackers, containing details of a nonexistent transaction and encouraged people to reply and call an 888-number.
