Help me support those with HIV/AIDS
« on: September 17, 2007, 08:53:42 PM »
Hi everyone,

Lifelong AIDS Alliance (LAA) is holding their 21st Annual Seattle AIDS Walk on 29 September.  I’m walking at this event to support their efforts and I’m looking for sponsors to help me help those living with HIV/AIDS in Seattle and King County receive food, insurance, assisted care, and other important services.  I’m personally matching sponsorships up to the first $500 raised (that’s my sponsorship goal), and Microsoft matches what I give!  If you’re interested in sponsoring me, please visit this link:

http://www.lifelongevents.org/site/TR/?pg=personal&fr_id=1160&px=1184341

Thanks for considering sponsoring me at this event, and if you know of others that would be interested in helping me, please forward this their way, but please, don’t spam anyone.

Count me in Aaron.

Nice effort on your part.  If I could hop a plane, I'd be there walking with you.

I used anon for my sponsor, but wanted you to know I'll be forwarding the link on as well

Thank you Ripley very much.  While you won't be here in person, I know you'll be here in spirit.  While there I'll try take a "Hi, Ripley!" picture for ya. ;)

Thank you again,

Aaron

Thank you winchester, Corrine, and Niecarrah. :)

And no, there is no such thing as too small.  I truly appreciate everyone supporting me.  And remember, what you're giving, I'm matching the first $500 of, and Microsoft matches what I'm giving, meaning even a "small" donation leads to great help for Lifelong AIDS Alliance, which right now with your, my, and Microsoft's giving, we've achieved $930!

BTW, here's some information on how Microsoft matches our contributions to qualifying nonprofit and educational institutions, both for donated cash and volunteer time.  http://www.microsoft.com/about/corporatecitizenship/citizenship/giving/programs/employee.mspx.  Microsoft is also a major sponsor of the Seattle AIDS Walk; more information on that at http://www.lifelongevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=1160&pg=entry.

Thank you again everyone!  If you'd still like to give, please do!  The walk is about a week and a half from now, and rain or shine, I'll be there. And I tell ya what... Instead of $500, I'll match the first $750. :)

Come on Lzd!! Let's dig deep in thine own pockets.  Let us help get Aaron to his goal.  :soapboax: I love it when corporate America digs!  He is stalled at $930.00 since the 19th. for cryin' out loud.  If someone you know is infected or perhaps someone you knew...or an innocent child ?  :help:

Thank you everyone!

Today the $500 goal was broken!  With $510 of your contributions, my matching $510, and Microsoft's matching $510, we raised $1,530 for Lifelong AIDS Alliance!  Thank you so much everyone for supporting me in breaking this goal!

If you would still like to sponsor me, there's still some time left.  The walk is this Saturday, and I am still honoring my promise to personally match the first $750 raised.  Visit http://www.lifelongevents.org/site/TR/?pg=personal&fr_id=1160&px=1184341 for details.

Again, thank you everyone for supporting me!

The rain is supposed to hold off until late afternoon, so I should be looking good.  I would have walked in the rain anyway, but yes, I like walking in the not rain versus in the rain. ;)

I'll take my camera tomorrow and try to get some pictures online, but I need to wipe my web site gallery and start that mess over.  It's yucky on the backend.

Aaron  8)
<coming in late tonight>

Have you picked a "theme" song for your WALK day?  I suppose the obvious inspiration is to listen to Bruce Springsteen-Streets Of Philadelphia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L9_8vwx2w8 2:56

<I've been known to attend concerts of The Boss 2 days in a row when he comes to town, he is that GOOD!  >

"I was bruised and battered and I couldn't tell
What I felt
I was unrecognizable to myself
I saw my reflection in a window I didn't know
My own face
Oh brother are you gonna leave me
Wastin´away
On the streets of Philadelphia

I walked the avenue till my legs felt like stone
I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone
At night I could hear the blood in my veins
Black and whispering as the rain
On the streets of Philadelphia

Ain't no angel gonna greet me
Its just you and I my friend
My clothes don't fit me no more
I walked a thousand miles
Just to slip the skin

The night has fallen, I'm ly'in awake
I can feel myself fading away
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss
Or will we leave each other alone like this
On the streets of Philadelphia"

Another to consider...is the 4th movement of Bruckner's 8th!

<tis what I'll be listening to when you are walking!>

The 4th mvt (Finale) gives the 8th Symphony its nickname, "The Apocalyptic."
At its climax, all the major thematic material of the foregoing movements is reprised simultaneously!
It contains ominous suggestions of apocalypse and ends in triumphant power!  A bit of inspiration for sure!

<Warning: The Bruckner symphony below requires REAL speakers, not headphones or the puny PC playthings. All that brass has to make your windows resonate and the neighbors call 911! >

Bruckner symphony #8
Carlo Maria Giulini: Conductor
World Philharmonic Orchestra
Finale (4th mvt): "Feierlich, nicht schnell"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQaFHakTrGY 7:39

It could be a life changing recording. I certainly find it life-enhancing.

<For those on dialup, the first 2 minutes will give you the "idea", and those with some patience (needed for "getting" Bruckner), the experiencing of the last minute, is a journey of the ability of faith (whether Catholic, like Bruckner, or otherwise) to overcome all obstacles.>

Aaron, you & I might be passing like ships in the night, but if the above "inspiration" misses you...
