Worst number of objects found?
« on: October 01, 2005, 05:25:12 AM »
What's the worst number of bad objects you can remember that you've heard about on a computer?

The image below is from the Internet, and it's not from my own computer... :P
:exorcize: Ad-Aware shows 152.636 objects found! :titanic:

Oh my!  Has the exorcism begun yet?  In bits or all at once?

Sorry I didn't add that up in my posting, but it's an elderly event of exorcism already taken place.
If it had been something not begun yet, I definitely would have recommended a trip to LanzDown for the challenge of it all.
Must be somewhat like offering a chef to participate in the making of the Nobelprize event dinner. 8)
I guess someone affected felt it was something to brag about, but my own opinion is something completely different. :chair:
The person that solved the problem though deserves all credit, but the story doesn't even tell on what website a solution was given.
We can at least rest assured that a bunch of nice tools must have come in use to completely solve the problem.

Yeah philsharp! It was indeed not a pretty sight.

But as I started this topic up I feel a responsibility to also inform possible readers with limited knowledge on security issues that numbers are not as important as the type of objects involved on an affected computer.
It could be much worse having even a single key-logger or trojan calling home on the computer owners bank account information etc, than having a "ziljon" spywares, tracking cookies and other less harmful stuff.
