Party Talk . . .
« on: July 10, 2006, 08:51:00 PM »
There's small talk and there's party talk.  Seeing as how the  :hammy: 's are flowing pretty steadily, its time for some "party talk"!

Tell us something about yourself.

You're a bit quiet this evening, friends.  Well, I'll start then.

This is something I discovered tonight.  I really did not think our family are "pack rats" but I have been proven wrong.  My husband has been cleaning out the "barn" (its really a large shed for the pool filter/heater, garden tools, etc. but we call it a barn 'cause it looks like a small barn).  Anyway, back to the story -- he is taking everything out of the barn so he can do some repair work on the heater (or more likely remove it since it is very old).  So this evening when I went out the back door to the patio where he has moved everything to the barn, I nearly stumbled over a bag near the door.  Now this is where I've decided we really are "pack rats".  You'll never guess what was in that old grocery bag stashed somewhere deep in the "barn".  It was a bag of stones -- not pretty stones but dried up muddy stones.  Why in heavens name have we been storing a bag of muddy stones?

i know the feeling

a year ago i decided to turn one of the bedrooms into a office
well i have my office and the computer and goodies are out of the living room now,
but the spare bedroom is now a spare bedroom and storage room.
i threw away all i could ( don't think i will ever use a black and white monitor or commodore 128 computer , or a 28K external modem)

now the spare bedroom/;storage room  has
a king sized bed in a room 9 X11,the back seat from my SUV, and several computers and misc stuff stacked about 5 ft high all the way up ! so if anyone ever needed to use that room it would take me two days and would have the office full !

so giving it a lot of thought i think all i did was move things around a bunch. or i like to think when the lights go out it breeds more "valuable stuff"

Want to know something about me?... something I would'nt tell anyone else?... (they would see it anyways...) something I'm not proud of?... OK, here it is:

I look after my grand-kids over the summer.  My 9 year old boy is very impetuous and tends to dare danger instead of using a bit of wisdom. Last wednesday, he wanted to go to the big public swimming pool a few blocks from here but there is a main street with lots of traffic to go across to get there... and I said I would take him there... but I had lend my car to my son because his was very ill... my scooter had a dead battery... so I used a kiddy 4 inch wheels scooter and accompanied him (on his bike). Well, I was on a pretty steep downhill... and it started going way too fast... and suddenly the front wheel of the scooter hit a crack in the pavement and the front wheel locked in perpendicular... and I went flying on the curb....
I now look like a battered woman and I did it all by myself. Oh! and the mouth full of what I thought was gravel?... well, they were a dentist's blessing in disguise, I found out later...!
But my grand-son is safe!
My status has changed too... now the grand-kids come to look after me over the rest of the summer apparently... so they say!!!
I also made the solemn promise that I will no longer scoot and I even voluntered to no longer roller blade either.
Seems like at 63 I can count myself lucky to walk!
But my grand-son is safe!  Ah! ah!

What can I share with you about myself?  Well, I don't know alot about skunks.

Not often, but sometimes a skunk or 2 travels thru the neighborhood back yards...and have even sprayed my neighbor's dog a few times.  Usually I just grab a few potatoes and whip 'em at them and they run away.  I figure a potato won't injure them too bad, just scare them off.

The other morning early I look out and see a baby skunk...no momma, just baby, coming right up to my back deck.  So here I go thinking... I can take on this baby one face to face...potatoes seemed too cruel.  I'll just jump out there and my sheer size will scare the little guy off and he won't dare come back. :hysterical:

Out the back door I jump and onto the dew saturated lawn, arms flailing, screaming like a banshee, and running right for him!!  Good sound plan wouldn't ya say?  WRONGO!

My expectation was as I ran toward it...it would turn and run from me.  And as I see that it is NOT MOVING, I think I better STOP, and whoopsy daysy, out go my legs from under me on the wet grass, and I land right under it's nose!
Well that cute little critter starts a hissing and growling like I never knew could come outta such a baby.

So now my arms are flailing again, except this time doing windmill circles backwards trying to get away from that bugger!  And he never did move from where he was firmly planted. :hysterical:

Long story short, I went back in the house and got some potatoes.

At least you didn't have to go back in the house and bathe in tomato juice (not that it really helps all that much).

a few years ago my room mate had a white dust mop for a dog. well he was so friendly he wanted to say HI to everything, he didn't just get sprayed, he got slimed !!! it was at 11 pm and we were going to bed, so she went into the shower and rinsed him off, i looked for tomato juce but could only find a jar of spagettie sauce and figured "close enough"

WRONG

they added food color to it so when she put it on the dust mop and let it sit for a bit we had a  PINK punk rocker dust mop for a few weeks ;-)

along those same lines...food "shouldn'ts"

It isn't always Nutty Buddy Ice cream topping on the kitchen floor...it very well could be chicken poop. Therefore...do not eat "things" off of your kitchen floor; it isn't always as clean as you think it is.
