Title: Pet Pics! we love them so show them off
Post by: R-C on August 31, 2009, 07:00:18 PM
On several of the other forums I am on we on occasion start a thread with some pics of our pets, I love those.  It is such fun seeing them in funny pics or just doing their what they do best being couch potatoes LOL

Lets try to keep them small or thumbnailed for the dial up folks

This is my life, my precious Majic, Harlequin Great Dane.  He is having some pretty serious health issues right now since the move, he has developed a serious allergic reaction to something here and we do not know what.  He is a miracle dog since he is 11yrs old and Great Danes normally do not live past 7.

I'm sorry, but this is a bit big...you've seen her before, but she's the only pet I have (except for the kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos, echidnas, wedgetail eagles, wombats, none of whom will stay still long enough for me to photograph...)

It's Bess again!

If you do think that a picture is to large then you can always rejuice the size of it.
you could either do it  on-line (http://www.picresize.com/) or you could use a program like Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/) [Free to use]

By the way Bess looks like an old softy.

Gr@ph...thanks for those links....will practise, I promise...your dog's name, please?!

Must know!

And Bess is NOT a softy...hard as nails, tough as old boots, mean as a...alright, bit of a sook, but she would protect me to the death (and vice versa). :Win73:

Shax,
Her name is Pippin, as she is the same as the dog in the TV program the kid's used to watch called Come out side (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/comeoutside/).

Timely, R-C.  As it turns out, I used a few pictures of family pets to create a brief illustrative video.

Cast of Characters:

Corrine that was great! Now with your terrific guidance I might give that a try.
Your animals are lovely, the one of the cat laying on the bird cage so reminded me of my Garfield kitty and my Dandy Bird (cockatiel also) they are both gone now but they did that kind of stuff. After Garfield got his ear and his nose tweaked real good by the bird for getting too close he decided being friends was better.

Garfield, we had him for over 20+ years, just killed me when he passed away, dreaded kidney disease got all of my kitties.

R-C, are you aware that Tom's(male) kitties must be fed soft food along with dry kitty mix.  This prevents the dreaded kidney disease.  Females do not require soft food in their diets.
Title: Re: Pet Pics! we love them so show them off
Post by: R-C on September 02, 2009, 02:04:31 PM
yes, all of mine were quite old so the kidney disease was age related, one of them actually got hit with the tainted food which caused his kidney failure.  I had Garfield on daily IV fluids for  almost a year he did very well with the IV till the disease just progressed till nothing could help and it was time  to let go.  He would come let me know when it was time for us to do his IV and he was so good, just sit there and not move till the time was up and he knew exactly how long that should take.
They are so amazing.

Majic is at the vet today for xrays and some surgery to get biopsies to try to get a handle on his current condition so I am a big ole mess today.

that is Tigger she was the first we lost to kidney disease, of course it is very prevalent in her breed and Peaches was the same breed however he was fine till the tainted food and then he went quite fast.

I lost a cat to the tainted food thingy also.  Hang in there, Majic is already magic!  You will know what is in his best interest, my thoughts are with you!!!!

Well my worst nightmare is upon us.  Texas A&M oncology dept has informed us that Majic has large cell lymphoma, very aggressive, we have 1 to 4 months with him.  He is already in high stages as it is in all the lymph nodes.  We will not try chemo on him since he is quite old and would not be able to handle it well.  Prednizone and antibiotics and pain meds will be given to aid in his quality of life.
This truly may kill me. I don't think there are enough kleenex in Houston.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

R-C, I am so sorry.  No matter how many times we go through this, it is never, ever easy.  As you know, although the feeling of loss lessens over time, Majic will always hold a special place in your heart.

(We still have wonderful memories of Misty, our first dog, a German Shepard who crossed Rainbow Bridge in 1979.  Other dogs and cats have resulted in the same tears and loss.  The toughest was when we lost two of our three dogs within months of each other.)

My heart goes out for you & Majic.

I so appreciate your kind words and sympathy, we have gone through it multiple times but it never gets any less painful, I am getting older and this kind of thing is not being tolerated well.  My heart is aching. I know many here understand this pain and I thank you for letting me get some of it out.  I sure do not want to ruin our good thread. But it is a wonderful tribute to our loved babies.
I too have many that crossed the Rainbow Bridge I am sure they are all there waiting for us.
Thanks again

Awe, Lucy is so cute.  She looks very young.

@Aaron, you have to name your "pet" Roombas.  Here are some suggestions to get you started:

Dusty decided that the lost cat was a great place to climb around.
The lost cat only minded when he bumped into the cat's face when he was using him for a fun slide. The cat would give me this look that said "Do you mind ?"
When I was holding the cat relaxed on his back in my arms, the Vet that scan him for an ID chip (he had none) decided she wanted him for herself.

Dusty spent his last few months with 3 legs
since he fell off the bed during one of his explore the jungle sessions.
He was very good about edges but it only takes one fall.

FYI: to XRAY a hamster, they use a cat dental xray setting.
There seems to be no hamster xray settings.

Blue those are great pics, in that first one I am glad you labeled it I thought that was the strangest fur I had ever seen LOL it kinda looked like really long hair that was wet and soapy glad to know it was actually Cholla stick.

That was a really serious break for sure, amazing how they can figure out ways to use technology for even the small pets.

Zep that kitty has won my heart, how precious.

Thanks these are definitely smile worthy.

God does indeed have a sense of humor! In dealing with this cancer diagnosis with Majic I had said I would not be getting another pet for a while, well God thought that was the wrong attitude apparently!  We came home one day from taking Majic for a drive only to find this precious little dog sitting at our door! I have tried everything to locate the owner but none is to be found, my vet even checked for microchips.  Apparently we were meant to be the new parents to this little addition to our family.  Her name Is Milan, she is a minature Italian greyhound, and when you see the pictures of her and Majic together you will understand why I say God has a sense of humor!

they have become best buddies and Majic has shared his bed and toys with her, she quickly ripped his yellow toy open and pulled out the stuffing LOL OH JOY!  she is a puppy still and is not house trained yet more OH JOY!
I am trying to smile at God's new plan for us. :hysterical: :thud:

I agree Corrine, she is certainly keeping him more active and distracted.  I just hope it will not be too much for him in the future as he gets worse.  He has stepped on her toe a time or 2 as she danced around him.
I have to think it was meant to be for some reason. I know it has definitely helped slap me out of my depression and funk, I don't have time for that now!

Oh I will have to tell the vet that she will love that! She laughs every time she even thinks of the 2 of them together.  Milan does love Majic! Her new thing is to go surfing on his back LOL
she climbs up on his back and runs up an down his back.  He just puts up with it all so well. I figure to him it is like tiny feet massaging his spine LOL
