Seattle AIDS Walk 2008 - Help me support those with HIV/AIDS
« on: August 05, 2008, 09:12:41 PM »
Hi everyone,

If you remember last year, Lifelong AIDS Alliance (LLAA) held their annual Seattle AIDS Walk which I walked in.  This year is not different with LLAA holding their 22nd Annual Seattle AIDS Walk on 4 October.  For those that don't know what this is, I’m walking at this event to support LLAA's efforts and I’m looking for sponsors to help me help those living with HIV/AIDS in Seattle and King County receive food, insurance, assisted care, and other important services.  I’m personally matching sponsorships up to the first $500 and Microsoft matches what I give, meaning your contributions are tripled!  If you’re interested in sponsoring me, please visit this link:

http://www.lifelongevents.org/goto/aaronhulett

Last year our contributions lead to over US$1,600 going to help those with HIV/AIDS, for which I cannot thank you all enough, especially given I learned earlier in the year one of my good friends is positive.  Walking meant a lot to me last year, it means even more to me this year.

Thanks for considering sponsoring me at this event, and if you know of others that would be interested in helping me, please forward this their way, but please, don’t spam anyone.

And don't worry, I'll have a, "Hi LandzDown!" sign again this year. ;)

Aaron

Donation made. How far are you walking, if I'm giving you money it had better be more than once round the football field!

LOL yeah definitely more than that. The police will block off part of the streets for us.

Thank you both Eric the Red and Winchester73  :mitch:

Aaron, no problem. I guess that every dollar counts to combating this terrible illness.

Sometimes seeing what is done gives a better perspective than me trying to somehow quantify it in a forum post.  Here's a 4 minute video on YouTube that shows just part of what Lifelong AIDS Alliance is all about.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TD9-i6Iqxc

With the $125 in sponsorships I have, and the $125 I matched just now, and the $125 Microsoft will match, we're at $375, 25% to our goal of $1,500 total!  About and month and a half to go... we're well on our way to shattering last year's amount of $1,605. :)

Thank you everyone!

Donations over the end of last week sent the total over $1,500!  Now, in the spirit of last year, the first person that sponsored me gets a hello on the "sign" I'll take with me - this means you Eric The Red :).  (Sorry Winchester73 - he beat you by 12 minutes).

And at the moment, I'm on the Top Walkers list over at their site.  Coolz!  I also have the most at Team Microsoft!  More coolz!

There's still time to sponsor me if you'd like, and while I am moving here this month to a new apartment closer to work, if there's some leftover moving funds left, who knows, maybe I'll match at little more depending on what you give. ;)

So how 'bout it, [username], will you sponsor me?

Thanks again everyone,
Aaron

Well, I should think he did ... he lives several time zones east of me, and got the news before I did.  At least, that's my story.

Job well done Aaron.  We'll all look forward to seeing some posted pictures.   :mitch:

But Aaron lives even more time zones West of me, or, if I go East, yesterday! Does that mean I knew about Aaron participating before he posted? Should I go and but a lottery ticket? I'm confused

All the same, keep up the training Aaron!

Oh Hammy, please allow yourself to know how much I appreciate your sponsorship, and know that I appreciate any sponsorship amount.  Also, don't forget, I matched you, and Microsoft matched me. ;)

All the same, keep up the training Aaron!

LOL, we're walking a mile.  Right now, when I take the bus to work I walk 1.7 miles (1 mile to get on the bus, 0.7 miles once I get off the bus).  I guess that's my training - and it's working, I can walk that mile in 15 minutes now (I walk 4 miles an hour LOL).

Thanks again everyone!

Aaron

Really this post is a bump. However, I just noticed that our own Aaron is up to $1650 in pledges.

Here's a challenge for you all, can we get him up to $2000? There's still time to make a donation at http://www.lifelongevents.org/goto/aaronhulett

Sounds like the weather forecast for over here. I'll be walking about getting wet, you'll be walking about getting wet and raising money for charity!  :cheers2:
