Title: What's Everybody Using?
Post by: babyoh on September 02, 2019, 12:47:37 PM
I use MS Security Essentials, Spyware Blaster, some various other tweaks like editing my HOSTS files, and that's about it.
My old vers of WinPatrol seems to work OK, although I know from posts I've seen, not to update it.
MBAM died on me a long time ago. I gave up & didn't upgrade because I could never get my questions answered in their forum.
Is AVAST FREE worth using? I just downloaded it.
Thanks.
Cheers, everybody.

ESET Internet Security - primary AV *
MBAM Premium - Far from dead
Windows Defender - set for periodic scan (manual "Full Scan" weekly)
Winpatrol Plus - still functional
SuperAntiSpyware (free) - scan weekly
Installed in browsers (FireFox & Edge) - uBlock Origin
Installed and kept updated - Spyware Blaster
Run when I feel like it - JRT,  CCleaner, MRU Blaster, Belarc Advisor

When AVG stopped supporting Windows 98, I ran AVAST free, for a few years, until I got a computer with a modern OS. It's been a while, but as far as I know, I never had a virus.

* Although I prefer ESET, some years I use the McAfee Security Suite provided by my ISP as the primary AV. My spouse uses Windows Defender as her primary AV, and doesn't appear to be any more vulnerable than I am.

I use MS essentials.
Spyware Blaster.
Scan occasionally with Malwarebytes free, it hasn't found anything for years.
Keyscrambler free for keyboard encryption.
Glasswire free firewall, to see and monitor my software connections and usage. Occasional nag screen to update.
Ublock in browsers and NoMiner.

Just simply smart browsing and usage.

I make use of Trend Micro Internet Security and CCleaner and then I stay away from all the fuzzywuzzy sites. That's all.
