Title: What Made You Smile Today?
Post by: Skittles on September 20, 2005, 11:16:13 PM
This is a thread to talk about what happened today that made you smile.

It could be some happy news, or something you saw or heard that struck you as funny...etc.

I'll start..........

I found this place, I joined, and have had some great conversations so far!

Okay - this is so coooooooool I know you will laugh as hard as I did!

I volunteer at a Senior's home and this little 92 year old cutie man always tells me he wants to ride behind me on my bike before he gives up the ghost. So today...........I made his day.......... got permission from his son and the admins...........and took him for a ride on my harley! He held on soooooooooooo tight I thought he broke my ribs, hahahaha. When we got back and I was helping him off, he grabbed me, planted a smoooooooch right on my mouth and said to me "Baby, that was the best ride of my life"! I laughed so hard I couldn't walk! :P Am still laughing!

I read that the Phantom Phixer -- the one and only creator of my favorite site for sending "Oldies & Newbies" to -- has a brand new Linux box!  That sure made me smile.

At the end of the summer holidays, my grandson (8 years old) left me with nothing less than a pet snail he found in the yard, to look after for the rest of the year!!! Little boys are like that....  He'd made a little house for him/her, with dirt and water and a few pebbles in a mini plastic aquarium. Well, the thing disapeared under the dirt and went to sleep and I thought it was kinda dead after a couple weeks. Last week, oh! coïncidence... a friend of mine happened to pass by and taught me the art of...  caring... for a snail!!!  She seemed to know what she was talking about and she dug and woke up the snail... gave him/her a bath in water till it swelled up and pierced it's protective membrane... came out of it's shell and started taking a walk and giving it's show. She fed him/her a bit of flour on a lettuce bed... and that worked too... About an hour later, the snail dug it's way back into the dirt and went back to sleep. Well, I was so proud to show my grandson how good a snail caregiver I'd become.... and proceeded for a full performance!!! It worked! He was happy as if I'd given him the moon.
Well, that was my smiling experience for the day... (and many days to come.... eheh!)

Those are some really GREAT one's, everybody!  Wow, didn't know you could wake a snail up and it would just go back to sleep again.

After 4 days of straight rain, the sun came back out!  That made me smile!

Ain't that the truth!

Today what made me smile was laughing at myself as I described my ordeal last night, which was EASTER'S Fault!!!

It is written in the "What is your Weather Doing" thread!  You're gonna have to go there to read it!  lol  That makes me smile even more....making you all work for it! lol  :muahaha:

What Made You Smile Today?

Shame on me, tsk tsk.

But.....skittlespc slipped and fell off her bike and skinned her little knee last night, in a driving windy rainstorm.
Oh boy! I feel almost as good that time i was 9 years old, just like that time i pushed that girl over in the bushes for marking on my face with her red lipstick. (Yuck) Didn't she know a simple Kiss would have brought a more favorable response?

I had some money to spare and was able to buy some wood to my house.
There are a lot of work still to do, but I am now able to finish the hallway, with wooden ceiling.
When this is done, the house will be enough insulated so that I can move in.

The kitchen and bathroom still needs to be renovated (and the major costs will be there) but for now I´m happy to be able  to move out from the trailer I´ve lived in for the last 6 months.

I'm happy to hear about that change 8) 'cause I'm pretty convinced that you've not lived a "party-party-life" like the Stones on a 70:s or 80:s World Tour with their enormous Mobile Truck.
As a house-owner there's always projects available, but it must be great to see the results when a step is finished. 8)

We saw some apartments for rent online in the area we want to live in Gothenburg, which was not too bad price wise.  Now if there will be some available when we get there.  lol

I made the last strokes with the paintbrush on the window frames in my new home tonight.
I have been living in a caravan for the last 6 months, and this nextcoming weekend I´ll move in to the house.
There are still things to do, but it´s ready enough to live in as it is now.

You are all invited to a house warming party

It´s not a big house, about 55 square meters (don´t ask me what it makes in sq.feet) LOL!!  :P :P
But it doesn´t matter, there´s a big garden outside and the coloured lamps are mounted to the trees.
I´m only hoping for good weather.

Lingon Vodka is served (well, brandy for GR@PH;<'S )

I´m thinking of serving crayfish, a special dish eaten at this time of year, swallowed together with lots of vodka.

Music, yes we need music,too.
Why not a dance to those well dressed boys with the flashing name of "Gert Jonny´s"  :tease:

Please don´t bring anything, your precense is gift enough.

Welcome

Excellent news!!!  Congratulations.  It is party time!

Now, I know you said not to bring anything, but all I did was grab a couple sweets from the Google Image Shop. :)

Someone better make some coffee for GR@PH;<'S.   :breakkie:

55 square meters = 592.01507 square feet.  Plenty enough space to call your own.

:Yahoo: I'm sure your invitation made us all very happy! :Yahoo:

Personally I'm crazy about crayfish and who can give up on some Lingon Vodka.

Your posting confirms that you're still able to reach the computer so the incident in the picture below perhaps didn't occur?

Even if it did happen maybe the paint is more dry by now than the inside of my mouth after seeing those pictures posted (i.e. Gert Jonnys excluded when it comes to a drooling mouth).
I promise to bring a happy smile, and of course I won't be singing too loud! :titanic:

You've got the hang of it Goatie!

The idea is to paint our sweeedish houses in lots of mixed colors, so that the ice-cubes we later on use in our drinks will get that proper rainbow look.
The side effects (memory losses etc.) of all chemichals used in older types of paint also helps a lot on keeping thoughts about hangovers away.
Uhm, wonder why I did post this one? *pooring up another one*

I got an email from my daughter, and better yet, I got to talk to her on messanger!!!  First time I have gotten to speak to her one on one, via internet since I moved here!  Actually it is the first contact.  Only a few emails before that but that has been a couple of months since I got one of those!

Unfortunately, she had to sneak to a friends house so she could email me and message me, but at least I got to have SOME kind of contact with her!  woohooooooooooooooooooo

I get unknown error 13 with Trillion, invalid password with Messenger (I know it's right, so I'm changing it now), and some other connection error, with AIM.
Just got Trillion and have been spending alot of time over at their forums to sort it all out.  I just won't have alot of time to devote to it til next week tho.
If I keep dead ending after I have time to try and sort it out, I'll post about it.

Personally I would just dump trillian.  I never liked it when I had it.  Some special features of the messanger programs just won't work with trillians set up.  Unless they changed it.  Such as webcam, chat, and audio chat. Just get the separate programs.  Much easier.

I know I know, this Trillian has been interesting.  But the fam-damily has it and I want to figure it out.  And I think I'll do a few of the individual ones too for comparison.  Just haven't had the time to sit down with it for an extended time.
