Corrine, if a user never uses IE is it necessary to install the ActiveX Flash Player for IE? Or can it just be removed? Thanks.

If you use Windows 7 and have two alternate browsers, never using IE, that would be one less update to take care of so it probably wouldn't hurt.  However, if you only have one other browser, your primary, it would be best to keep IE updated "just in case".

With Windows 8.1 and 10, Flash Player is built in and automatically updated.  As a result, it is necessary to go click the settings icon, select Safety and uncheck Active X to disable Flash Player on IE.  On Microsoft Edge, just go to Advanced Settings and uncheck the box for Flash Player.

Thanks. I have Win7 and have about 6 browsers, both installed and portable. Some Mozilla-based and a couple Chrome-based. I think I'll stop doing the ActiveX Flash.
