Update:  As usual, Mozilla published the information about the security updates long after releasing the update.  The update included nine (9) security updates of which one (1) is critical, three (3) are high, two (2) moderate and three (3) are rated low.  The updates apply to both  newly released Firefox Version 62.0 as well as earlier released Firefox ESR 60.2.

They are removing the description field in the bookmarks.
My entire life is documented in those.
I am devastated.  -_-

A bit more info here: https://www.ghacks.net/2018/07/27/mozilla-plans-to-remove-bookmarks-descriptions/

I don't use the description field myself.

Since you can edit the properties of bookmarks, if there is something really important, you could edit the Nane.  For example, the name for my bookmark here is LzD.  Editing the Name, it could read LzD, PC Help.

I'm thinking of maybe moving my notes to the keywords field since I don't use it for keywords.   Anybody know if they plan to remove that too?

I seriously used that description field as a notepad for important stuff about the bookmarked site. It just made it so much easier to keep the notes connected to the site.

I tried using Pale Moon for a while, but I needed some tools and extensions that I couldn't find replacements for on PM, so have been back to Fire Fox.  This is big deal enough that I might need to take my bookmarks to PM and leave FF for good now and just make it work.

But then what do I do if PM decides to get rid of the description field too? Its the only other browser right now that supports it as an editable bookmark field.

At any rate, I'm not updating FF until I get this figured out. I have hundreds of entries.

You could delay this for a year by using FF ESR. It is based on v 60 and the description field is there.

FF ESR v 60 is good through almost the end of October 2019. ESR is as secure as regular FF but doesn't get all the version updates, just the security updates. That's why I prefer it.

To add to the above, XP computers really shouldn't be on the internet. Pull them off because the OS hasn't been patched in 4 years and 5 months and there are no secure browsers for XP.

If you can't afford a new computer and you need to go on the internet, boot up a linux live CD/DVD or USB stick and use that to browse the internet. It might be slower but it is a lot safer.
