Pale Moon Version 28.6.1 Released with Security Updates
« on: July 25, 2019, 12:03:44 PM »
Pale Moon has been updated to version 28.6.1.  This is a security and bugfix update.

The update includes DiD (Defense-in-Depth) fixes.  This is a fix that does not apply to a (potentially) actively exploitable vulnerability in Pale Moon, but prevents future vulnerabilities caused by the same code, e.g. when surrounding code changes, exposing the problem, or when new attack vectors are discovered.

Implemented fixes for applicable security issues: CVE-2019-11719, CVE-2019-11711, CVE-2019-11715, CVE-2019-11717, CVE-2019-11714 (DiD), CVE-2019-11729 (DiD), CVE-2019-11727 (DiD), CVE-2019-11730 (DiD), CVE-2019-11713 (DiD) and several networking and memory-safety hazards that do not have CVE numbers.

To get the update now, select "Help" from the Pale Moon menu at the upper left of the browser window.  Click About Pale Moon and  Check for Updates.

thank you

Firefox has two for android or IOS, Firefox and Firefox Focus which blocks Ads and tracking and the one I prefer is Adblock plus browser for android. It's also available for Apple IOS.

https://adblockplus.org/android-install

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/mobile/

Android is so fragmented (Eco system has been falling apart and no improvement) with many manufactures and phone service providers being very slow providing security updates or never providing security updates. What is being considered top tier manufactures are 6-12 months or longer providing Operating System updates or again never. I can't see living on a 1-3 year cycle and then be thrown under the bus with not even security updates. I can kind of see low priced phones, but top dollar phones aren't any better in the overall support. If you buy a Google Phone they will provide 3 years of updates. I just don't see this as a very good support system, even for Google. Most people are spending 500 to 1000 dollars on mid to flagship phones. The rest all I can say is good luck. Do you expect your TV to last longer than 1-3 years? Do you expect a desktop or laptop computer to last longer than 1-3 years? Most people aren't spending as much on the cost of a cellphone.

It doesn't make any difference weather it's Android or IOS I never consider a phone much more than a phone, a few text, some music, an occasional picture and light browsing (nothing secure).

At least with a third party browser you know you will get updates.

P.S.  I meant to say many people aren't spending as much money on other devices as the cost of a cellphone.
