Identifying problem sites
« on: October 24, 2008, 01:33:22 PM »
Is it possible to create a site where Members can moan about programs that a) don't work as advertised or b) cause problems with their computers.

I have just had an experience with SuperAdBlocker - it doesn't seem to block any Ads (SuperAntiSpyware already does an excellent job - I don't need Pop Up Blocker or phishing filter) and indeed I have new Ads appearing since it's installation + its uninstall information is incorrect.

Obviously we would have to be careful not to infringe the libel laws - but it might save Members getting caught out, or at least alert them to possible problems.  Again, it should be understood that the problem could be just for that particular computer and not generally found.

By the way - we are constantly plagued with emails advertising a well known  .......-booster (which I assure you I don't need), despite identifying them as junk and reporting them as a phishing scam.  Why can't MSN/Hotmail do something about this?  Just noticed the pun "Hotmail" - yikes!

You might try .  It isn't the type of forum we would be establishing here at LzD.  However, appropriate commentary regarding a software product could be provided in "General Software News, Updates & Discussions".

Personally, I use the Firefox Add-On, AdBlock Plus.

Not sure if this is also what you meant but this site lists many RogueWare programs you definitely do not want on your system:
