What the hell's with the site?

Undoubetly you've seen the site come and go, especially more the last week or so.  So what's happening?  Well, the server this site is on is almost 6 years old.  It's survived my administration skills over that time ;) along with a datacenter explosion :(.  It's had a good run.

For the last, oh what's it been, roughly 6 months, the box has 'hinted' that it wanted some attention, and in the beginning it'd go down once every month to month-and-a-half.  When it'd stop serving the website, I'd log on and issue a restart command, and everything would come back.

Fast forwarding to now, it's much angrier than before, going down every few days, with one time requiring me to open a support ticket to reboot the box given I couldn't reach it, and this last time needing a ticket to reboot as the box crashed after my restart command.  It's way overdue, but now begins the move to another server.

I just put in the order for a new box and I'm waiting to get login details and such after it's done coming online.  Unforunately this isn't a simple copy things over and keep going from there.  This will take some time to plan, text and execute, and the site will be unavailable for a little while (somewhere between a few hours to two days) as things migrate over, both site files and changes to DNS information.

I'll let you know more as things progress.

The server move is happening in the next few hours.  Most of you won't even notice ;)

Removing the sticky on this topic given I've completely moved everything to the new server and we've been rolling along.
