hello,

where is the event log located.  when running scannow i went to put in the disk. unknowingly, i put the cd on top of another one and when i closed it i heard crashing and the dvd ejected. i ran scannow and was asked to insert the disc and the insert disc kept popping up. i kept on clicking retey until i finally figured out the drive wasnt reading. i went and bought another drive but when i went to install it i couldnt. it was sata and i needed ide. not many ide drives around. well, i'll keep an eye on things for now and see what happens.

You will find it in Programs/admin tools/event viewer/system/  and look for windows file protection.
